Chronicles of Caramiriel

Sitting on one of the benches outside her home, Cara opens her book and writes.

" It started out like any other day, walkinging around a preaching in Tyra. I headed towards Waukeen's to see if any more have responded to my request for aid with my quest. Several people were there and some had heard of my quest as well as that of Daeris. They seemed eager to help us both and it was decided to try and accomplish Daeris' quest first as it would be the shorter of the two. We managed to complete here quest and we were thinking of doing mine when a few people had to leave. We decided with rest we could do it, however the message Maera recieved changed our plans. It was from one of the Tribunes of Eltabarr asking assistance in regards to the disturbances under the sewers.

Myself, Daeris,Maera,Kallien and Sidarian decided to see the Tribune. Ever since we had destroyed the Eye of Veneca, we were determined to try and destroy the Dragonflesh Golem left behind and this seemed to be the time. We met with Tribune Dipren Qarto who was a bit irked that Brandon was not with us. He outlined his plans during which Maera had a raven sent to Mistress Renee. The briefing was done and we went out and waited for Mistress Renee by the sewer gate. Maera briefed her on the objectives and she agreed to go. The tribune supplies a runner as a go bewteen between his troops and us.

Mindful of the tremors and falling debris we managed to fight our way through a mirad of creatures until we finally faced and defeated the Dragon golem after a long and hard fought fight. It was determined however that another sweep of the carvens should be done to be sure the worse were gone. The sewers were common areas adventurers were sent to find items. Again battling our way back we made it to the caverns where we faced demons and Dhjinn amongst other things. On our way up we battled Yuanti and mephits. Satisfied the sewers and caverns were clear we all headed up where we met the Tribune.

He was glad we were successful but the fight had caused him heavy losses. As customary he offered us gold for our services. We turned it down sayiing we did this as our duty to Thay and that use the money for the famlies of the fallen. We had gather enough items that we could sell and get a modest amount of gold.

We got on a carvan to Tyraturos and went our seperate ways. It is a shame that when we destroyed the eye the curse was not broken but a least we finished up the task started."

Weary, she closes her book and heads for bed.

Still shaken ,Cara opens her book and writes,

"First Silus and then Ingren now Kallien and possibly Garic.

Ever since Kallien returned from the trip to Rashemen, there seemed to be a restlessness about him. I have known Kallien almost as long as Garic. Kallien helped me find Silvanus' Grove. We had a connection from the start, a kinship being of Silvanus though he a ranger and I a druid. He was willing to help others and when he decided to be in the merchantile business he was fair and his shop popular. He stood by me when the summit was called in Tyraturos.

He seemed the most strained after the enervation as well as Daeris rise in the Temple. I always sensed there was a some form of relationship. The past month or so whenever we were in a group there would be tension and they would snap.
About a week ago myself, Daeris and Kal were in his home in the Spirited Valley and things seemed like they used to be. Then earlier this evening things came to a head. I tired my best to convince him to stay but it was not me who held the ace.
I wished him well and to return soon. We hugged briefly and then he left.

Garic to has not been seen in some time. Last we talked he seemed disheartened at the lack of progress he has made during his tenure in the legion. He started the same time yet has seen others advance quicker than he. Th elegions recently have been keeping the ranks trained buy augmenting regular assignments with fights in the various arenas. The last time I saw Garic was at such a fight as he asked me to come with him. Unfortunately he lost but put on a brave front and admitted he would have to try harder. I suggested he take a break from Azura's tasks but like a good solider he said no, he must face her with his defeat. He was pleased I put word in to the Tribunal on his behalf. We parted ways at the carvansari in Bezantur and I have not had contact with him since. I pray that he is well and did not meet his end in the arena.

I feel an keener emptiness now. Although Cyrus did come out from the paperwork and assist me with a difficult quest, I see him more as a father figure whereas Kal and Garic brothers."

Sighing deeply, Cara closes her book and heads for bed.

At her home, Cara opens her journal and writes.

" Kal decided not to take that long trip after all. He has returned and has been helping me and others achieve various quests. We even helped him
with a quest and when he recieved the item, instead of keeping it, he gave it to me as I had lost mine to some undead. As for he and Daeris that is not of my concern as I am just glad he has returned. Many others as well as they value his experience as a guide and also fairness as a merchant.

Garic too has finally resurfaced a more positive and detremined. A few of us went with him to try and complete a request for Azura. Unfortunately we did not find it but still it was good to travel with him again. Hopefully next time he will. I promised him that would help him when I can.

They both also promised to help me. I feel much better and less empty with their return."

Smiling to herself, she closes her book and heads out to tend to the shrine and preach.

After her latest talk with her, Cara opens her journal writes,

" We all have been through a lot recently. For the longest time, Daeris has been in the forefront of her temple as well as being frequently called on for her skills as a scout and trapper. She also recently added new members to the Temple and is in the process of setting a branch in Amurthar.

What seems to me, a curious coincidence, is that after Kalien returned from his brief hiatis, his popularity was on the rise and Daeris' was on the decline. She got called less to be of assistance on various jobs and although she did not go into detail, things had changed in the Temple that she is concidering leaving and following one of the Elven pantheon.

She and Lash had a quarrel however he returned and has been teaching her about the Elven gods. I just hope her general dissatisfaction with what has been occuring, does not lead her to do something foolish."

Feeling elated at surviving the caverns, Cara sitting on a bench at Silvanus shrine, opens her journal and writes.

"Vrog, Daeris, Garic and myself headed to the North Aloar flooded caverns as both Garic and I had tasks there. Things were progressing well, until Garic was felled. Due to the water I was unable to get to him in time. It seems the helm he had was defective. Daeris, who is able to sneak out did and went to the inn to see if Horace or Selora arrived. Prior to our coming she had sent letters having asked both if they could come with us. Vrog took Garic's body and helms outside. Luckily we were not that far from the entrance. I stayed behind with his items as there were no enemies about. After a few moments I was told Horace and Selora had arrived. I gathered all his important items and left the food and such and barely made it out. Thank goodness I knew bulls strength. Horace could not stay but Selora did. She managed to raise Garic and I gave him his items. We went back in and retrieved the rest and decide it on another day.

That day was today. This time we had Garic, myself,Selora,Hirt and Neb'tha. Daeris apologized as she had other commitments. I had sent letters to Maera and Brandon. This time it went better and Garic made sure this time his helm was in good repair.
We methodically chopped through our opponents. Praise to Silvanus, I had found what I sought. We then continued in the hopes of finding what Garic needed. Battle weary, we went to the last chamber were we faced our worse foes. They had swarmed. We all almost died but with Seloras ability to heal it allowed us to quickly heal ourselves and join in. After I was healed and rebuffed I assisted in the healing and fighting. Garic opened the last chest and we were rewarded for our efforts.

We had a good team and worked well Selora really proved herself. I am just glad we were able to finish both tasks."

Saddened by the news, after Garic and Daeris left her home, Cara opens her book and writes.

" I knew Grace before I even joined the legion. She was a good fighter and one I could call a friend. She followed Hoar and I hope she died well in his service.

During the Time of Troubles or Time of No Magic, we were honored to actually meet an avatar of Hoar. We along assisted Lord Hoar and were awarded with weapons. Her status has His champion was ordained by him and was witnessed by us.

We did not see much of each other after that getting together occasionally. I saw her about a month or so ago but she seemed distant and strained. She was still a lieutenant and not a captain of the Tyra legion.

It seems to be an odd coincidence that those I knew of the Tyra legion have vanished, Maia, Shana and now Grace. I hope she is final at peace with herself at the right hand of her god."

It had been some time since Cara had written in her journal.
Taking it out of her desk she opens and writes.

" For the most part lately, things have been uneventful since the Horde was put down. The Archdruid has been given me harder and harder quests.
Ever since the major fiasco recently at the Abandoned Tower in South Aloar, people have been scarce as to being available to assist others.

A new air of intrigue seems afoot, reports of hightened security around various red wizards estates. An apprentice named Jutta has been charged by her master to hire adventurers to find out if the rumors are true.

I decided to go as things were slow. The others who arrived as I did were his omnipotence Hazlok, Daeris,Mirella, Neb'tha,Garic, Khal, Cassae and the drow wench Shuri'dil. We were tasked to go to the High Thay gold mines as rumors of possible decption on the part of the Tharchion by the red wizard known as Rhym,

We were all to go there as the mercenaries hired by the Tharchion supposedly to check out unusal disturbances. We could not wear anything that would identify our factions and Hazlok and Khal could not wear there respective robes.

Naturally we ran into some flack from the slave master and mine guards but were cleared by the Tharchion. We finally entered the mines but things just did not seem quite right. A dwarf who seemed to be a leader of the workers and whose name escapes me, that some of the shafts in the lower levels were collapsing but not in a natural way. Also reports of gnolls and other creatures below.

We were quite intrigued but were ordered to only patrol the main level. We decided to forget the orders and descend as we also learned the Tharchion was down there. We fought all matter of creatures and finally made it to the Tharchion.
Omnipotence Thrune asked the Tharchion questions but he was being highly evasive. Frustrated we could not find out more we left. As we were leaving we heard one of the Tharchion's men yell that we were imposters as the real mercenaries had arrived. We hurried to find the exit as we could here footsteps behind us. Suddenly a portal appeared and we stepped in, back to Jutta's master.

A report was given and we were rewarded and dismissed. I have a feeling this was not the end. The reds are always plotting and planning."

"It seems a lifetime since I sat down and wrote anything. The temporary time rift was disturbing, however even if it had not occurred, in a way I have a time rift of my own.

My time in the Priador legion. It seems more of a dream. Many who I knew then have died though some remain.

Tribune Cyrus Najera- I met him while still a sergeant. He was a lieutenant at the time. We assisted each other often. We along with others aided in ending the Time of Troubles, also known as the Time of No Magic. He did buy a home and was planning many things. On our last adventure together he, myself and Daeris went through Keptur ruins. It was a disaster. Daeris and myself returned from the fugue. We barely got our own things and Daeris managed to get some of Cyrus items. For a brief moment I thought I saw Cyrus. Daeris and I returned to Tyraturos hoping to hear from him thinking he made it back to Aloar. Its seems no one knows for sure whether he returned or not.

Omnipotence Hazlok Thrune - I remember him as a promising at times fumbling apprentice. At times more of a hindrance then help. However during the Time of Troubles his apprentice status was a great aid into getting answers we may not have otherwise gotten. After his ascension we still assisted each other, he even offered to help during my Test of Faith by having him meet Moander. Although I refused, we still kept contact and I attended his marriage ceremony to Petra Galambos. I offered my support after she had been killed.

Petra Galambos I met Petra after my retirement from the Priador. She was very ambitious and very Mulan. A widow of an apprentice she seemed to hunger for a powerful pairing in which she found with Omnipotence Thrune. She was a cleric of Waukeen and worshipped the coin. We traveled together just seeking gold and also assisting each other with tasks. A few months after he union with Omnipotence Thrune, she was tragically killed though details sketchy and only known to his Omnipotence.

Knight Grace I met Grace while she was a lieutenant in the Tyraturos legion. She was a good fighter, ambitious and a follower of Hoar. She assisted during the Time of Troubles and given high praise by the Doombringer himself.
After that, we would occasionally bump into each other. After awhile we finally met up again in Tyraturos after both our promotions, she a Red Knight and myself an Elder of the Grove. She was not yet chosen by a Red so was looking for things to occupy her time. I gave her some suggestions, we said our farewells and went our separate ways. She died honorably fighting the Marilith in defense of Thay. I am sure she is standing at the right hand of her god.

Tribune Garic -The Tribune and I enrolled in the Priador around the same time. We quickly became good friends. Although I was promoted to Captain before him, he did not hold it against me as it gave him time to work on his preferred assignment the training of the gnolls in the Market Town barracks. He amongst a few others in the Pridaor where upset at the Zulkir edict and insisted I stay and at my rank. It was not to be. Eventually he was promoted to Tribune and the Pridor gnoll legion section is now one of the best disciplined groups of all the other legions.

Tribune Mirella - I have not known her as long as Garic but I did watch her progress in rank in the Unicorn Legion both during my tenure in the Priador and after. She has proven herself time and again a loyal soldier of Thay. Most recently during the battle with the Marilith. However since then, at least in regards to Tyraturos, she has not been seen or heard much from.

Tribune Brandon Baxter of Eltabbar - Like Garic , I have known the Tribune since early on during my tenure in the Priador. He like Garic, has proven himself a good and loyal soldier of Thay. I am guessing because of this he has been given the rank of Daeron or Lord as it is often known. A rare honor as it is usually reserved for Mulhorandi. He currently shares his home in Eltabbar with Maera a cleric of Selune.

I shall stop here for now as I can hardly keep my eyes open and I still have much more to write."

Koriesel - Although a Lapendar legionairre, Kori, as she preferred to be called, spent most of her time with the Amruthar guard. She came from Kara-Tur in the east. We did not have much interaction until the Time of Troubles where her fighting skills proved valuable.
Shortly after the magic was restored I did not hear any more about her. Mayhap she got tired of legion life and went back home.

Djed Setesh -One of the few people I have met that was actually born and raised in Thay, Bezantur in fact. He had an imposing presence even back then.
He lived on the darker side of life a killer, a follower of Bhaal. Our encounters usually were brief. In general he was a man of few words and a loner. However during the Time of Troubles he assisted in the restoration which resulted in the fall of Bhaal and setting up Cyric in his place. Djed shortly changed to a follower of Cyric. Our interactions were even fewer and far between. He eventually arose to some exalted title. However to most he is just known as the Deathdealer.

Jay Asher He was an annoying teifling, a follower of Kossuth, so obnoxious that even his own Temple could barely stand him. However in a pinch he was a good fighter. He assisted in the raising of Thazar Keep but even that event could not save him from his fate. Although I do not know the details, Jay was executed for a crime or crimes he committed (probably running his mouth).

Daeris An Elven woman, one of my closest and dearest friends. A complex woman with a complex past. She has become a highly respected person who skills are in demand which has made some angry that an Elf should be in such a position. We have been through many things together the good, the bad and ugly. We have grown closer and consider ourselves sisters. I will be leaving for the Grove for an extended period of time soon and will ask her to watch over the place until my return.

Kallien Black A human male, one I met around the same time as Garic. He is a Ranger of Silvanus. He is a bit of a rebel as he does not really try to fit into the "establishment". I consider him a dear and close friend. Like Daeris, we have been through much. Many a time it was just Kallien, myself and Daeris adventuring. He was an active merchant at one time. Lately however, he has someone else managing his mercantile. He has been staying mostly in the spirited forest in his cabin and cleansing the woods of the vile orcs and rogue Elves. I will also ask his assistance in watching the shrine during my absence.

Gust Windblown - an affable man, a cleric of the Traveling God, Shaundakul. He has a vision that one day he would set up a temple to his God. He lived and interesting life. He had lived with an Elven woman and they had a daughter. However the woman wanted to go to Evermeet and as a parting gift, she gave him an elixir made from his blood to extend his life as she wanted him to be happy. His current love is Mikki a ranger of Shaundakul and one time legionnaire of Tyraturos. Both Gust, Mikki and myself had many adventures together. Gust finally got his wish, he now has a temple to Shaundakul, in Chur Gathos.

Mikki- Like me she is half-Elven and was also in the legion but stationed in Tyraturos. We had many adventures together alone and with Gust. One of our last encounters together was when she and the sorceress DeeDee killed assassins in my home. Like myself, the Zulkir edict made it impossible for her to advance. She was somewhat relieved as she was thinking of leaving the legion but she would of had to live in secret as you are legion for life and to desert met instant death.
She resigned and helped Gust with the establishment of the Temple. For awhile, she had a home called the Traveler's Sojourn which was located by the Feldsparr Bridge in Amruthar. She had a merchant and also provided a room for travelers to rest. She later closed it to devote her time to the temple.

The last time I saw either of them outside their temple was at Omnipotence Thrune's wedding.

Mason - another who lived on the darker side of life. He was an accomplished slaver and a priest of Myrkul. He was pretty much a loner.
He was with us and assisted in the raising of Thazar Keep but at a cost to himself. What that is exactly was, was not revealed at least not to me, he left him quite shaken.
I think the last straw for him as was for many was when the great curse or Enervation was cast. Stripping many, including myself of powers we had achieved through our devotions to our gods as we who had attained such levels, including Red Wizards, were perceived to be a threat to the stability of they. Many were not seen again.

Ingebord A follower of Tempus, becoming a legionnaire would fit with the God. Brandon was of Tempus and a Tribune. She was what Thay wanted in a legionnaire. She looked to me as a guide and I tried the best I could. Like many others under my command, she was shocked at the Zulkir edict. I tried to help her
even though I was no longer her commander. A year or so later she seemed to have lost her drive and her life purpose. She seemed to have suddenly vanished, mayhap she was killed in the line of duty.

Milena Aset - Another legionnaire I met during my time in the Priador , a Lieutenant if the Thazalhar legion . She was a paladin and follower of the Red Knight. We had did not travel much together but kept in contact until I left. We made contact again in Tyraturos. Coincidently, Mirella and Apprentice Kelm were there however we were informed he had past his trials and was now a Red. We had a celebration of sorts at my home. However that was the last I was to see her as she died in Moszbarr defending Thay against the demon.
