Well, in the end even after 6 pages of discussion, deciding what name to give them was just as difficult as when I made the first post since there was no clear winner. So as a result, I ‘Tolkiened-It’.

In other words, there are multiple names by which this legion will be referred to. Officially they will go by the boring old name of Black Unicorn Legion (I swear the Red Wizards don’t have much creativity when naming their legions). But throughout the conversations with the NPC faction members and in the various faction member descriptions, they will also refer to this legion as the Ebony Riders and the Dread Lancers of Thay. That should get everyone good and confused. Thank you Tolkien!

Thanks again everyone for the lively discussion and debate. It was an...interesting experiment, and gave us something to talk about if nothing else.

As I’ve already had a couple questions on this, here are some details on the faction which I’ll just post here for now -
1. Must be an evil human woman OR an evil drow woman to join the Black Unicorn Legion of Thay
2. To join you must be an unaffiliated PC with enough notoriety. This is not an ultimate promotion faction like the Thayan Knights. However, the notoriety required to join this faction is higher than that required to join the less-prestigious tharch factions
3. The Ebony Riders gain access to all of Thralgard Keep, including High Thay legion barracks and other restricted areas there, as well as their own garrison headquartered in that keep
5. Members of this faction will not be able to ride any mount but a black unicorn. If they possess an inherent ability to summon a mount, that ability will no longer work while a member of the Dread Lancers of Thay. Both of these restrictions are explained through the IC faction conversation as due to Red Wizard magic binding members of the legion to the black unicorns when they join
6. If the original black unicorn the woman gets should die, she’ll need to travel back to Thralgard Keep to get a new one. They will be *expensive*, and there will also be a small loss of notoriety each time a new one is purchased. In other words - take good care of your mount if you join

That sounds sweet. Here's hoping that I ultimately see a few (possibly from a distance).
