I personally only hit examine as a habit (to see difficulty rating which is disabled on every server today) and I skim through text or exit it altogether if its too long.
This is where forums do wonders, you can write a biography and then update/bump it with posts so people will know when relevant information/changes of your character occurs.
Another way is to RP the changes if they are visual or apparent, others are perhaps best left to forums or for players to find out themselves.
My 100 minus 98 cents
I agree it is easier to change a bio in a forum then changing description in game. I play in a server were such requests are handle by a few admins and must be backed up with rp to support it. The descriptions are generally ooc anyway. On this same server people update their character by adding to their bio.
I usually do not read the in game description or people's bios, unless asked as I like to learn about the character in character in game.
However the question is, if we give players this option is it a single option or is it part of a dm package?
