I’d like to try our weekly campaigns again, with a new twist to them. This time around, I would like to get your opinions on what these campaigns should focus on along with when/if you’d be able to join. Since I will be doing the DMing for the campaigns, they will need to occur either after 7:00 PM CST (GMT -6) on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Friday or on the Weekends after 12:00 PM CST. They will not go more than 3 hours per session.
We can do any almost storyline you guys would like (within the guidelines I have in mind down below). Harpers? Agents from Rashemen? Spies from Aglarond or Cormyr? Exiles from the Endless Wastes or Mulhorand?
And I can/will make special creatures, items, NPCs, and (potentially) areas as needed to accommodate ideas. For example - would this group have a guildhouse somewhere? A secret lair? Special items that do…er…something? Is there something you’re interested in making for the group?
As you think of ideas or maybe become interested in joining this group, here are the guidelines I would like to work with:
1. We will start out with an initial campaign length of six weeks. If everyone can get together 6 weeks in a row, we’ll do it all in a row. If we can only do two weeks in a row then a break of a week or two, or three weeks in a row, or one week here and there, we will work it this way. However, all members of this group need to join every week it is agreed upon or the session that week will not be held. Once initial dates/times are set and agreed upon by the group, everyone in the adventuring party will need to be there throughout the entire campaign as it will be a team effort!
If things go well I am opening to extending the campaign to more than 6 weeks.
2. This group will need to consist of LG, LN, NG, CG, or True Neutral characters. No Evil or CN characters, please. I ask this because I feel it will be easier to maintain group cohesion and perhaps reduce inter-party conflits so everyone can enjoy focusing on the quest at hand rather than watching their back against their ‘friend’. Plus, I’d like to focus on the more ‘traditional’ D&D stories and such - ‘go rescue the damsel in distress simply because it’s the right thing to do and you’re not being coerced into it or only doing it after promised a great sum of money’. ;)
3. The members of the group will start out knowing each other. Everyone involved will post backgrounds for their characters on a special party forum set up here. You will also need to collectively decide where the characters met before the initial opening events in the Thay PW brought them to Thay. The opening sequence will still apply to these characters, however you could consider the entire group gets taken all at once for example. Finally, you’ll need to decide how your character initially views the others in the party and provide it to be as DM-information only.
Oh - and you’ll also need to think of a name for your adventuring party...
4. All PCs will start at level 1. The PCs used in this campaign should only be played during the sessions themselves. Depending on who survives the campaign and how long it goes, these character may be retired or else at the conclusion of the campaign used as regular PCs.
We can start any week once we get 5 people interested in forming the party and and consensus that they can all commit to a 6 week run (potentially split up over 6+ weeks). If we get enough interest in this new campaign, I will ask KTA to set up a separate forum here in which those interested can hash out details, provide character information to the others of the group, and so on.
