KTA's Thay PW Enhancements and Stuff
#1
Well, since I get more and more questions about what kind of graphic enhancements or character portraits I use I thought it time to make a post so this information is available to you all.

I use a number of overrides to modify the almost (in a few days!) ten years old graphics of the Aurora engine.

My Overrides:

There are countless portraits/packs to be found on the web, most of them not very good IMHO. But over the years I collected a few good ones and also made a portrait or two for one of my characters.

My Portraits:

Current Character Portraits:

Hint: If you are using the linux client, make sure all files are in lower case!

I will try and keep this up to date...

Thanks KTA, these are great.

Do you (or anyone else) know of any good overrides that allow more quickslots? I'm not great with the radial menu, at least in emergencies :)

I saw one there, but it was for NWN2

I look into this myself every few years but I am afraid its hardcoded so that is a bummer...

I always found the orc and bugbear models very ugly and low-detail but I recently found a hak that included very good models of those critters and also much better looking ogres. I extracted all that is needed and made a override out of it! Try them out but be sure the read the included MM_readme file.

Also added shield overrides, pay attention to the install order!

Is there any easy way to modify colors on things?
Like, make all in-game colors that are green => RED for example.
Why? Say you'd want to play an insane character and need a little inspiration. Changing how YOU see things and later describing them can be a whole lot of fun and there will be some logic behind it.
Like making humanoid blood gold instead. I'm going to do some research tomorrow, though I could ask here in case somebody knew something already.

Would you recommend NWNCQ Basic or Extended (and with or withou Plus addon)?

I am using the extended version with all options enabled. If you can run this depends mostly on your graphics hardware. Give the full version a try and disable options if the framerate slows down.

Hardware's not the issue. I had problems with the extended version on a different server where it caused some serious clipping in some areas.
