On Specialist Wizards

My Main Question: Does anyone know if Wizards can cast spells from their opposed schools using items?

After that question is answered I open this thread up for discussion on all things concerning School Specialization... (I didn't see a thread about it before so,)

I assume this is a pretty official site, but I found the following here:
http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Wizard

"A wizard may choose to specialize in a spell school, gaining one additional prepared spell per spell level but losing the ability to cast spells from the opposed spell school, even spells from scrolls."

So it would appear they cannot cast opposed spells from scrolls.

Hello,

I am curious, as far as specialist wizards go how do necromancers fair here?
Can they summon more than just one undead at a time?
Can they turn and or create an undead and bind it to their will indefinately?
Can they become Liches here?

(I know vampires are possible here, very cool too!)

Alright so not from scrolls... but what about casting from other items, like use per day items? If a fighter has the ability to use the spell, say true seeing, via a 1/use per day or even a charged item, wouldn't it make sense for a necromancer to also be able to use it? And does anyone know if it would work mechanically in NWN, regardless of it it should or shouldn't...?

Necromancers have the same abilities in Thay as in core NWN. I believe that means they can only summon one undead creature at a time.
The process of a PC becoming a lich is on the wishlist, however that process will probably not get implmented for some time, unfortunately. It is planned though.

I'm not sure about casting from items. I've never actually played a specialist wizard, so that is fuzzy. I believe this can be affected by scripting, however it too I would have to check on. Maybe someone else knows for sure? I think we have a couple specialist wizards out there...

I'm virtually certain that the restriction only applies to scrolls, not to use-per-day items. If someone has a use-per-day item with Charm Person on it, loan it to Big and we can test it OOC :)

T you know that I created an item with mage armor (conjuration) uses per day for a Evocationist (opposed school conjuration) that worked fine. It was because of my inability to cast that that I saw the use in a item to do it for me. Yes, uses per day items should work regardless of specialist school.

Confirming Giths answer, it's true! Although the real purpose of this post is to mock anyone that gives up conjuration. It's my favourite school and it should be yours too if you had any sense :@:D

P.S All acid spells are the domain of conjuration, not evocation Gith :P
