Barry Webber
#1
The seventh son of a merchant in Waterdeep, Robert Webber, Barry was in no position to receive any inheritance or power from his father. So instead, Barry turned to adventuring at a young age. While he started out small, wandering the streets of Waterdeep, with little care given by his parents, he killed rats and other vermin that were bothering people on the streets.
Barry's chosen profession received little assistance from his family members, but he soon found an ally in the Goddess Tymora, and was often aided in moments of dire need by the luck she provided. As time went on, he became known through several villages on the Sword Coast.
Barry's had a close call that ended up with him in Thay. His luck seemed as though it was finally about to run out, but Tymora must have been with him all along. A mysterious ally saved him from the clutches of some slavers that had been chasing him after he got side-tracked on the way back to Waterdeep, after an adventure. Although Barry has no idea who the ally was, he is sure it was Tymora who saved him, and while his luck may seem to have run out, with him winding up in Thay, He is certain that he will turn the situation around, and will spread good luck to all those in Thay.

A page written in Barry's Journal. It has no date, and is quite messy in some parts.

"Remember Barry, watch your back around here. There's plenty of sods here in Thay who would like to see you dead, and Lady Luck gone.
The Moanderite who's friends with Jay seems nice enough on the outside, but corruption can be a sneaky thing.
We had a little encounter with the Talassites in the Bezantur Crypts. Jay killed one of their champions or something like that. I will assist him in any future endeavors against the Talassites.
Then there's the Cyricists. Damn them all, especially that powerful one. Djed, I think they call him. Attacked me in the streets, and the guards did nothing! I keep hearing that he is threatening to put me on some stupid list, as if it is supposed to scare me into submission to Cyric. He goes around collecting tithes to Cyric in the streets. I must focus my efforts on stopping the vile Cyricists. Starting with that Tower in Tyraturos. I fear that any attempts to start a temple to Lady Tymora would be pointless, while it is still around, as I'm certain it would be raided almost immediately.
I'm planning on gathering some of the faithful of Tymora into a band devoted to fighting Cyric and his followers, alongside Beshaba of course. Although I'll likely not have the official church of Thay in Pyarados behind me, as they won't even accept me as a lay member yet. The people of Thay need to be free of the chaos and fear caused by Cyric. I'll have to be careful though, I have heard many powerful people worship Cyric."

Two entries in Barry's Journal

"Was adventuring with Jay, some wizard, and another Tiefling friend of his in Dillomat's Tower, a dangerous place to say the least, but what an adventure! We ended up in the plane of Warrior's Rest. Fighting through hordes of immortal petitioners to Tempus. I think I did a pretty good job manning the siege weapons while Jay and the other Tiefling fought in close combat. We all retired for the time, with Jay giving me about 700 Talons in return for my assistance. Should be useful funding towards the Temple.

Went on an adventure with Jay, Delia, some man I've never seen before (goes by the name Dumah or something like that) and a few others into the Tyraturos Crypts. We headed pretty deep in before we were overwhelmed by some undead Bugbears. We ran towards the surface with the vile creatures following closely. Jay recalled to the Temple of Waukeen to heal up, leaving us behind and telling us to stay put. Of course, being a good Tymoran, I know that fortune favors the bold! So I led the charge to try escape our trapped situation. The undead were no match for my bravery, and the luck of Tymora, and we soon found Jay again. We headed up to the surface and headed into town, where Delia sold the loot we found for gold. We got split up for a little bit as I changed the colour scheme of my armour due to popular demand. Well, I was actually avoiding that damned Cyricist, Djed I think his name is.

Note to self: Jay said he owes me about 1200 Talons. Will be useful funds for the foundation of the Temple. Remember to collect sometime

I'll start collecting up any faithful of Tymora who are as of yet unaligned with any official churches soon."

An Entry in Barry's journal

"There are too many Moanderites here in Tyraturos! Jay seems to trust them, but he worships Kossuth. Moander is a vile entity, spreading rot and corruption! But I won't do anything overly aggressive towards them yet. I'll let them make the first move, or at least build up the sect of Tymora here in Tyraturos that I'm starting.
Funding for the temple is, slow, to say the least. Only about 3000 talons made recently, putting the numbers at about 12000 talons so far. 60000 talons is the aim though, so I have a long way to go. If only I had some assistance, but alas, there are few worshippers of Tymora here.
I heard from various sources of uprisings, and a Tharchion's meeting in Pyarados, looking for mercenaries. This may pay quite well, and an adventure is always a welcome thing! If I am bold enough, Tymora should smile upon me in my efforts in her name.
I have also heard that Omnipotence Hazlok's Apprentice, Apprentice Ravan, an passing aquaintance of mine, failed his tests. I assume that means he is dead. I would have liked to speak with him though. Perhaps it is possible to contact his soul, wherever it now resides."

A hastily written entry in Barry's journal

"What in the nine hells have you done now Barry! You shouldn't have trusted that Nymcar creature! Thazar Keep has disappeared, gone! Not a trace! Damn, Tymora give me luck in this, I shouldn't have told the Tharchion about what happened there, but it probably would have been discovered anyway. Now I have to try and find out who this Nymcar works for, and if I don't they'll kill me, or worse! Tymora smile upon me, I have to find a way to sort this mess out!"

A More Carefully Written Entry in Barry's Journal

"I have gained many enemies here in Thay. That damned Tempuran who believes in dishonourable battle gets on my nerves especially. I haven't seen that cursed Cyricist lately though, perhaps I am avoiding him better now. I'll face up to him eventually. Now, I have found yet another person who already dislikes me. Elyra, Elira, something like that is her name. Called me a lunatic and twisted my words to sound like I was sending unknowing people to their deaths! I believe she is turning the Lieutenant, Brandon I think his name is, against me. I was on good terms with him, but I do not know how much my relations to him have been damaged. She probably pays regular worshipt to Cyric, or Beshaba, or both of them.
I still have found nothing about that damned Nymcar creature or it's master. I will have to keep an eye out for any word regarding it, then I will have to question it.
The funding for the temple is going well. The former Myrkulite, Mason I think he is called, gave me about 30000 Talons for curing him of Lycanthropy on the ill fated Thazar Keep mission, as well as perhaps making him an aquaintance, rather than an enemy.
I have about 42000 Talons now for the Temple. I can buy a building of suitable size, but I need more funding to furnish it and make the central shrine suitably grand for respectful worship to Tymora. I will start openly searching for followers soon. Tymora smile upon me, for fortune favors the bold!"

A Blandly Written Entry in Barry's Journal

"I died today. Twice I think. I'm certain it was death. One moment I was riding along with a band of mercenaries from Pyarados to stop some raiders, the next I awoke on the cold, hard ground, all alone, with my horse dead beside me. The next time was in the Tyraturos Catacombs, I came across a Kobold, I charged at it, but before my Morningstar struck, I felt a sharp pain in my back. I awoke, weakened extremely, I took my belongings that I could and fled the place.
Tymora has forsaken me. I know what I must do now. I will leave the cities of Thay, and live a simple life as a hermit. I must meditate on Lady Tymora, and perhaps gain her forgiveness."

"What am I thinking, I can't stop being bold! Without Tymora's favor, I have nothing! I must continue raising funds for the temple, then Tymora will truly show me her favor!
Lady Luck smile upon me."

A longer Entry in Barry's Journal

"I have been making little progress in the past few weeks towards my goal, the foundation of the Tymorran temple here in Tyraturos. I must train my fighting abilities up more, so I can better face the challenges here in Thay. No point in being bold if you have nothing to back up that boldness. I must push on, no matter how many enemies and naysayers I have here in Thay. I would look for someone to help train me in the Martial arts, but I fear it would be too costly, and take too much time.
Fortune favors the bold, I must press on!"

Another entry in Barry's Journal

"Two orcs tried to make a stew of me and two new ladies. Kala and Kali, sisters. I suspect they worship Loviatar, from what I've seen. They say they hail from Calimport, and when I asked them what they did there, one of them just said that perhaps they could show me sometime. I'd rather avoid that, maybe spend some time in the Temple of Sharess instead. Dealt with the orcs pretty easy though, but the fire they started spread and almost burned down the market. All was sorted out though. The temple has gained about 90 talons towards the funding. Not much, but better than nothing. I need to get some funding faster, at this rate it will never be built."

Another Entry in Barry's Journal

"Hoorah! Tymora has smiled upon me! I was part of a group sent to negotiate with the Barbarians from the east. Needless to say, my bold personality led to an encounter, and angered Szass Tam himself! But I survived! He spared me, after I healed Mirella Locke. Many would think of these events as poor luck, but no! Now I am on a grand adventure! Possibly the biggest I have been on yet! Me and three others have been sent with the Hordes to attack Rashamen. They are allied with Thay. I fear this is a blow to the free peoples of Faerun however, the free Rashemi are an honourable people, and to see a new ally to the vile realm of Thay would not be good for the rest of the realms. But I suppose this will enable me to do more good than bad. Perhaps I may never return, but if I do, surely the fame I will have earned will provide me with more power in Thay to finally get to work on the temple to Tymora.
Tymora Smile upon me, for I will serve you well!"
