A poor populace?

Moving through the streets a hooded figure occasionally bumps into or passes by others along the way to his destination, finally reaching an alleyway he stops in it to watch the streets. Moments later he collapses from someone knocking him out with a club, the other person pats down his person searching through his pockets before finally sighing. "Saw him go at this for half-day and he has nothing? What a waste..." And wanders off leaving the pickpocket to the rats in the alley.

Was just bringing this up after noticing this ^^; I decided to try pickpocketing a number of npcs some time ago, and no matter what there was nothing, tried it on some merchants, citizens, and even a guard or two and they didn't even have pocket lint... Was just thinking with the whole thing of robbery and such why aren't people carrying around money or items that are pickpocketable? Know Thay is pretty bad off but I think guards would at least have some ale or something else they were hiding away?

I haven't played a rogue or another pickpocker yet, but I have had a NPC send me on a quest that encourages me to 'steal' the items she required, I was expecting to be able to pickpocket shop NPCs for this item.

In my opinion you should get a small XP and gold reward for a successful pickpocket, the XP, gold and DC should of course improve for every level you get. And maybe a script that would give out random items, the more wealthy/powerful NPCs would have a higher DC, but would also give better items. And maybe shop NPCs that got a item in stock that you are needing for your current quest would let you pickpocket it.

There should of course be some cap on it, maybe a 2-3 minute timer, or more, so people can't just run around in Bezantur and pickpocketing every NPC they come across, getting to near-epics in a day.

Just tossing some thoughts around, it would be interesting to see something this way :)
