Dyeing Gear
#1
First of all this is not a complaint but an observation. I know that it may be filed under a rug and not important. :D

When you dye your gear you have two options. By dyes or using the dummies.
The dyes are limited and are not really what they say they are. I found out when I went to the clothier that the brown dye I had bought and used was in reality tan/red.
If I wanted to dye my current armor it would have cost close to $3800.

I have seen this handled a few ways. One way is a dye pot which looks like a fire elemental summoning brazier and has the dye script that the clothier dummies do.
If approved it could be handled maybe like the examples below:

Purchase maybe $5k unlimited use however for each color changed 100 xp loss.
Example: you change leather one you lose 100xp. Xp loss is already used in making, potions, wands, scrolls and speciality items. So if you decide to change all the colors 2 leather, 2 metal,2 cloth that would equate to a 600xp loss.

Talk to the dummies however charge maybe 100 gold and/ or 100xp loss per change. Again the max would be 600xp and 600 gold.

Actually I know this is random but on the topic of dyes.. can we just have armor colouring free of charge on the models :/ and just remove the dyes. I know it makes the dye pots less useful unless you carry some for new armor that you think is coloured like a peacock when you are the emissary of death buuut.. yeah. Please?

Free or at least no more than a token few hundred gold, equivalent to purchasing the dyes. I also think customizing armor appearance is unnecessarily expensive, especially since it seems to be based on the value of the item. Maybe if it went by the value of the base item, before regarding modifiers, that might be more reasonable.

Agreed.

I like to make small changes to some of the armour my characters pick up....ie....just change the arms, or the legs. Is it possible to alter it so that the price is lower if you are only doing a small change and not the whole thing as this would be a boon to my characters pockets and no doubt other characters too.

Thanks :D

In reference to this. I play on a world where it gives you the cost of the item to modify like to modify this item will cost x$ but you can change the design to anything without having to worry about property loss, Ie armor bonus etc. Lets say you have Benzo's Mistake you go to the anvil and it offers you two choices either change robe or armor. You choose and it will give you cost. Just like the nhancement forge here it will say if you have enough gold or not. So if you want Benzo to look like a robe it will be a robe with all properties intact. Coloring of course is done seperately.

Robes are already their own piece, so you can have a robed full plate character. As far as being able to just make any type of armor look like anything, I think the way it's done right now is perfect. Chest piece determines AC, and the rest is up to you.

Yes but in the method I described you do not have to worry about the ac aspect. The appearances change not the properties.
If you want the ac back you have to pay for it.

I'm saying I don't really like the idea of a silk shirt being full plate.
