Maybe, but the style reflects the character. Besides properties of the armor are ooc information only. :)

The whole Fullplate looking like a silk shirt thing will be weird when you walk 20% slower ... and nobody knows why!
Better have those Freedom of Movement(s) ready :)

Heh. If people want to pay to upgrade ac or what have you fine. What i was referring to was to people who like the properties but not the style. ;)
Some people may not want others to know what they can or cannot wear so it would be a nice surprise.

I see people with verious armor and clothing but I have no clue as to what properties they have. Personally to me I do not need to know :P

My main concern though is the cost of dying your gear. :D

I agree that dyeing should be less expensive than changing the appearance.
Since Dyeing something is way easier than ... whatever the heck the clothier does to our armors when they re-model them xD

A few points:

dying - dy·ingˈdī-iNG/Submit adjective - on the point of death.
dyeing - dye dī/Submit verb, gerund or present participle: dyeing - add a color to or change the color of (something) by soaking it in a solution impregnated with a dye.

And finally IMO, characters should not be able to walk around with plate armor that looks like silk, leather, robes, or anything else that doesn't look like plate armor. The same goes for banded, chain, leather, robes, etc, etc, etc. The visual appearance of those items can't be changed that drastically (at least without powerful magic that would cost WAY more than the tailor currently charges). Plus, as a player I like being able to make judgements about a character based on the type of armor they're wearing and the weapons they're holding.

Robes are fine, can always say they're over the armor, but other components don't give you that justification.

Perhaps one could blend the leather/studded/hide options together just as they blend together banded/half/full plate along with scale/chain etc. It's a bit finicky to do though but it'd open up the options for those who want their leather to look like the hide they used to wear or wanted a more romany look to that breastplate. Just a thought. I do agree that free cross-boundary Ac vs style is bad.

I was also disappointed when I read that this thread was about dyeing and not loss of gear from dying.

That's silly. WHy would you want to replace the metal textures with leather textures?

I think you are misunderstanding Dremora there, he means that they should make it so that all the leather models are interchangeable on the different types of light armor, much like it is with the heavy armor and medium armor models.
I prefer walking towards the east..
