A Question on Thayan Knights
#1
I read in the thread here that to become a Thayan Knight, Monks were exempt from the pre-req Weapon Focus Longsword.

My question is this exemption only for pure Monks, or are multi-class Monks also exempt?

I thought, since that was my main overall long-term goal, that I would make that point clear in my mind before I get there in some months, only to find I made a mistake with my build. *anticipatory facepalm*

Thank You. :)

It -should- count for multi-class monks.

Thanks for the answer, but I'll wait for a definitive one before I scrap my character's current iteration. I'll reroll if I have to, as I really wanted the opportunity of that faction to be obtainable by this character. Since it was my first here, I may have made a mistake, and oh well...live and learn. :)

If I do have to reroll, is the !delete option mentioned in the Sever Changes thread available to a new verison of an old PC? (re-named with different characters to avoid DB confusion).

Only for a pure monk, whose monk levels total their overall hit dice, is the longsword weapon focus not required.

So, pure Monk only; got it, and thank you. I'll simply reroll the PC and start over, taking the required feats, it is not a big deal. :)

Regarding my second question, is that allowed? Deleting and gaining half your levels for the rerolled iteration? Again, I've only been here a couple weeks now, I simply don't know. :)

Yes, that is fine. You just need to make sure the name is different in some way.

Why not just de level him via the forge?

Its rather inefficient don't you think? Over a mechanical issue, you are suggesting he waste his RL time to accumulate gp to feed a forge to drain his xp away.

Because if I do this, I'll probably drop the Weapon Master direction I was going, and that will completely change the whole build. See, I also play my skills and feats that I choose, not just my stats. In my mind's eye, I found the AV I use, and used it as the base from which to build his story, even writing it up in my bio that he trains with his spear, so I went in the direction of Weapon Master of the Spear. I even started working that into my RP, referring to him in RP as the "Spear of the Pyarados". *shrugs* Oh well.

To me (as I saw in his concept) going for the RP of a Thayan Knight is more important than the build of a Weapon Master, as his Deities that he venerates (Helm for Protection, and Siamorphe for the rights of Nobility to rule) even dovetail nicely to what he wants to do, and that is to be a servant of Thay and a Guardian of the Red Wizards, who rule (as he sees it) by Divine right; he will serve best by obtaining the status of a Thayan Knight.

I just misinterpreted the requirements, that's all. :) My bad, and I'll roll with it...pun not intended. :P

Okay, last question (probably). :P

The requirement is only Weapon Focus: Longsword...

Not that I would be expected to exclusively use it...right? >.>
