Darn... the vanilla shapes are pretty lame sauce from my experience (as in not viable in combat), so I've been hesitant to make one here. Have others that played druids here had success with them?

I have but have not really used them in combat. Since my character has one level of shifter if I change I change into the wyrmling.
Before my character was capped at 15 I sometimes used the elemental shape and the shapechanging spell. Though I believe the helm, armor and sheild properties meld into the animal properties and you do need to cast spells before the change. I have not played a lycan but the forms for those are decent enough from what I hear.

Ah, well maybe I'll have to just try it out for myself some time and see how they do. You can cast once you're shifted if you take natural spell! Not worth it though really unless you plan on fighting while shifted. Thanks for the comments, Animayhem :)

I know one server that had more shapes for basic druids to use maybe the old nwn vault has some listed for additions?
