Server wipe
#1
So as some of you may remember (well less than half of you probably) we wiped the server and started a new gameyear and all the vaults. New chars were made, all that jazz, deletion of progress, etc. My question basically is why we don't do that again? Especially when Szass Tam's power quest is over, what else is there left to do?

There is still a lot of time left until we get to the point we wiped things last time. I suggest we not even bring up another wipe at this time as it tends to cause minor chaos. Just enjoy the game and the times we are in now.

I agree we have had two major upheavals. The server wipe and the enervation the lowering of levels. The latter being the most trying. Many people who have the higher levels have made lower levels to balance and some higher levels have rped their loss well. Granted at first I was not to keen on making another character but others have and it has worked out. Both Cara and Rimeth have been able to interact with all levels.

I was under the impression Thayan had pretty much guaranteed the playerbase "another wipe won't happen again after this" last time...
Currently Playing:

Galambos Thrune - Griffon Knight
Archibold Vanderdaghast - Palemaster
Anders Maerklos - Spellsword
Chessala Zolond - Yathrin d'Lolth

Bishop, I wasnt aware of that.

And the reason I do it is to balance the levels. Plus, that brought about a time of prosperity in Thay.
Do you remember how many people got on the few months after the wipe?
Like holy crap!

Logging in and playing ups the player count by one.

I didn't know anything about this...

That's because its IC, and this thread is pointless and should have been deleted.

This thread is moot as Carcass said which is why I am locking it.

To avoid any more speculation, hand wringing, or open further opportunity for complaints about how past events on the PW somehow screwed people over; the answer to this, which has already been addressed in other threads, is a definitive: NO, there is not going to be another server wipe. Furthermore, the possibility is virtually non-existent that a setting reboot such as we had will ever happen again. There are many more in-game and real-time years of story to tell before the dreaded 4th edition timeline hits, and after (or leading up to) that point in time we may deviate from whatever official source lore has to offer.

Finally, I completely support the decision to lock this thread. I rely on members of the staff to make their own decisions as to when something should be closed or removed from public view.

The only reason I am also not moving this thread to the staff-only forum is because I want to use it as an example to reiterate the forum moderation post and explain that if you wish to see a change to the PW, first contact Sundraoi. As I stated, changes made to the PW are not decided by committee. Unless specifically brought up for public discussion by me or someone else on staff, if there is something you'd like to see happen in the Thay PW, bring it up to the people that are responsible for explaining/justifying, and in charge of actually implementing, those changes. If you absolutely, positively, 100% require the answer directly from me about a requested change, you can PM me, but CC Sundraoi in it as well.
