It seems it does not work at the moment You get to the screen and try to connect and you get the try another nick message and it can tie up your computer and game.

If you use the direct connect icon you have no problem.

I stand corrected. If you hit cancel at the try another nick, you can access your favorites.

Having something similar, not sure if it's the same problem. Logging in works fine, then when I go to join internet game the program freezes and I have to close it with task manager. Nevermind, it just loaded in slow and as soon as I cancelled out I could choose from favorites.

Same for me, I just hit cancel on that screen then go and join as normal. Doesn't seem to make much difference other than a really slow load into the internet section.

Same here. I do seem to recall seeing a mod somewhere that allowed you to bypass anything associated with the official NWN servers - saved you a few seconds, and now it might save even more. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

1.) Begin by viewing your C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\ folder and locate nwnmain.exe.

2.) Right click on nwnmain.exe and click 'Create Shortcut'.'

3.) Right click the new shortcut and click 'properties'. Rename it to the associate with our server in some way so it is easy to recognize.

5.) Click on the Shortcut tab. Click in the Target input box. It should contain a path that looks like this:

C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwmain.exe

6.) Add the following text after the above (with a space inbetween):
+connect 65.101.102.74:5121

Yeah, the reason for is that the GameSpy servers finally shut down, it has quite a wide-spread effect on various games.

Check this thread, first post, and specifically the bit by Hellstrom. It has a nifty way to avoid the 30 seconds or so while the computer tries to find Gamespy, but fails miserably. :P Works great! :D

The only drawback to the short cut is that if you wish to save the chat log you need to do it before you connect agai as leaving haveing used the shortcut takes you back to your desktop.
