I am glad you were able to relax and have fun. I still recommed Staples. I would suggest holding off on restablishing anything until a firm decision is made.
I am in agreement if it cost close to 1000 to recover the data just use the money for a new hdd, start with the feburary module that way those of us who had established characters have something to work with.
If the feburary module option is chosen then staff can decide what to do about people who lost characters.

The way I look at it, if you are simply re-creating the same character, than they still have the same memories, etc. How to explain the sudden loss of "ability" (if you even feel the need to do that) is up to you. :)
What Khreed and I talked about was using the "re-assignment" to the Gauros Temple as our RP for having all blessings stripped, and starting anew as Lay Initiates. That's only one example though. :)

If the recovery option does turn out to be too expensive, then working from the February back up is fine with me. Most players have at least one character from that point. Though if a full on re-boot is what is called for, I will support that decision as well.

Thayan, if it will help you in the decision process, might a poll be called for? Just to get you a better feel how opinions are spread out?
As I see it, possible options are:
1. Recover the files at all costs! Here is my credit card number! :D
2. Recover the files if the current donations cover the costs, else a February Database. :)
3. Spend the monies collected on improved hardware, and give us a February Database.
4. I can support decisions 1-3, but if you re-boot the mod, I will leave the PW, as that decision will break my heart. :(
5. Spend the monies on improved hardware, and just re-boot the mod already! I will stay with the server no matter what.

I think this would be good. A way for people to let their opinion be known as some people may not feel comfortable fully voicing their thoughts in public.

The server is ready to re-launch at any time now. Thanks to you folks who were in the chat room earlier today and helped me verify it. I'd still like to have a little more input from the staff, if possible. But taking your comments into consideration, along with my burning desire to get the server up ASAP, I do plan to have the it available again sometime late this evening (Central time). There are many considerations to keep in mind with the server going at this time, which I will need to formulate into some time of plan, and create a new thread explaining things to ensure everyone knows what to expect for now.
A poll is possible at some point in the near future.

OK - please refer back to the first post of this thread, I have added an addendum to that post at the bottom. It contains some CRITICAL information everyone should know BEFORE you login to the server. You will also find the password to get into the server within that information. If oyu have any questions, please post them now.
Thay is back up, at the very least. Go assassinate or enslave someone, damn it! ;)
