So I created a character but then I decided against it because it would be in direct conflict with an existing character, character deleted. One questions remains, as we cant create characters with the same name as one we have previously had, will we get some kind of warning if we do accidentally create a character with the same name?

That character will be sent to oblivion. You will not be able to move or anything. Once there it will tell you the name already exists.

So if I pick "John Smith" it will prevent me from accidentally picking a name that already existed for another character..good to know. :)

I thought that it only applied to characters from the same account name. Like even if Player X makes a character named John Smith, Player Y could still make a character named John Smith too; it's only when Player X tries to make two characters named John Smith -- or deletes John Smith and rolls up a new character named John Smith -- that Player X might start running into problems with character persistence.

Or am I mistaken?

There was a second Cyrus I know of, I guess doing that would test the 1% I'm not sure of.

There can be characters with the same name across multiple player accounts since the Login Name + PC Name combo is different and won't screw with database and persistency settings as it does if someone would create a second PC of the same name under the same login name.

Brilliant, one more question, once im in oblivion for being such a smacktard, will I get the chance to delete this character so it doesnt clutter up my vault, or will it be wiped anyway because its in Oblivion?
