You are slaving. You captured two slaves, and are returning to town to sell off the proceeds. You tell them to follow you, hit the transition...

And pop into an ambush. The Merc Wizard hits you with a disabling spell, and you turn your head to see your two slaves having a conversation as glowing balls of death leave the mage's hand.

"You gonna help him?"

"Hell no! That SOB told me to not attack until his say so, I'm gonna be a good slave and stand here and watch him get fried"

*slave snickers*

It sucks just as much when you're helping slaves escape Thay, and one of those borderline-invincible Mercenary Wizards or Dust Mephits targets your slave. "But...but I'm eight leagues from Murbant! Don't let it be for nothing!" *slave dies* "Damn it! All that for nothing." :s

Why should you dog-faced Evil guys have all the fun of losing slaves, right? :P

Happened today.

Your are in the fugue having died in a nasty place. You are thinking whether to go back. When sudden the 3 minute warning. You go and scramble like hell to get your things and then stone.

You miss the server message saying that it is going to reboot; this is because you are on an epic loot run. ;)

Then, right when you swap out gear to open a stubborn chest...you "crash".

Upon logging in, the baddies you killed earlier are back, your gear is not at it's best, and that door you unlocked to get in there in the first place? Yeah, it's locked. -.-

So, watching your HP go down and down, but gamely trying to hang on, you get hit by a scythe wielding vampire. Right then you think of your portal stone. You try to use it, get hit again, are down to 2 HP...and it fires.

Sweet, blessed victory.

When you are trying to teleport away from a gang of five minogans only to have them all shout (and succeed) right as your stone should be activating

That moment when you are near death and you trigger your stone, all happy it went off in time.... only to find yourself bleeding to death upon arrival as one of them hit you as you ported.

Something like that happened to Wyren when she was taking the portal out of the Pocket of Elemental Fire. Thanks to her Robe of Fire Resistance, the salamanders weren't a problem. The Walls of Fire conjured by the efreet weren't a problem. But the efreet themselves, in melee? Too much for Wyren, unfortunately. So Wyren ran through another Wall of Fire and hit the portal, but the efreeti chopped her right as she ported out. So I had to sit there and watch her bleed out on top of Dillomat's Tower. Fortunately, nothing spawns up there, so getting her stuff back was a cinch.

She still can't create potions or scrolls, though. "Not enough XP to create this item." And that's still after she's gotten a bunch of RP XP, periodic XP, creature XP and quest XP. That last death must have put her in some serious XP debt.
