I've had some problems with running NWN under Windows 8 in the past...nothing too insurmountable, fortunately. I hardly ever had any problems running NWN under XP or 7. (Analysis: Windows 8 is a social media whore and an ungainly and unnecessary hunk of bloatware-fueled crap.)

But I think NOITCA nailed it. If NWN crashes but stays resident, do like he said and open the Task Manager, then manually kill nwmain.exe from there.

Checked under task manager, not even under processes, nothing. Restarted Computer, still says the server doesn't exist.

Also, it's letting me connect again... Weird.

Not sure if this would have anything to do with the fact that I have to log in with a capitalized username, log out, and log back in with the lowercase one to not get locked in the loading room, would it?

I really wish that Gamespy was still alive. I mean, I've been using desktop shortcuts and Run prompt shortcuts for years now, but every now and then I'd log on with the regular NWN client, just to see who was hanging out in the chatrooms (or to deride the folks from PotM and give them some more lip if I caught them right after yet another server crash-cum-mass exodus). But those days are gone now.
