Rescaled Rods and Wands

Rescaled Rods

I'd seriously like to consider adding this. I have always hated that Rods are about 2/3 the size of staves. These models would simply overwrite the BW content, making them a happy medium; larger than wands certainly, but not the ungainly things they are currently.

What I need to know is, would you all like this as well? Vote in the poll please.

Oh I whole heartedly agree! If it was a choice between the giant rods we have an no rods, I would say giant but if we have an alternative of smaller rods and wands I'm all for those.

Please don't. For the love of...

If there's some way you can implement this without it being mandatory for all people, fine, but please don't force me (and everyone else who doesn't agree with you) to use smaller rods just because you would prefer it that way.

Maybe if it could be purely optional for people to download on their own screens if they really feel so strongly about it (as you seem to).

My main character being primarily a rod-toting Wizard, it would effect me greatly and am quite fond of my large rods (think of them scepters if you like, we don't have proper scepters, so why not keep the rods as they are).

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And any number of other ways I would plea for you to not implement this.

I'm serious, by the way, this isn't a joke post, I very strongly dislike this idea.

But keep up the good work.

P.S. While we're on the topic of pet peeves concerning rods, why in the nine hells can't we wield rods in our main hands? Are all the Arcanists in Faerun left handed or some such nonsense? That, to me, is far more important to find a solution for, as a mechanical limitation, than anything purely visual (disclaimer: They're called pet peeves for a reason).

Attempt at Humor: "What's next, reducing the size of Greatswords cause they're too damn big too?"

You bring up a valid point, Bishop. I can certainly make this a patch, and folks can grab it and add it to the collection.

But you ~do~ know then that you would be the only one to see your large Rod? The rest of us would hear you boast about the size of it and tee-hee behind our hands about how yours is just an average size rod, not this huge massive thing you seem to think it is. ;)

I agree with Edwards.. The rods are currently cannon in size and changing them would be bad in more ways then one...

Firstly is the problem with cannon lore, rods ARE about 2/3 the size of a staff.

Secondly is the fact that without using a .HAK file you will create an irreconcilable decrepency in what people see.. half the players (if not more) will probably never use the override which will cause RP problems due to inconsistency. Worse what of those who play on OTHER servers as well? I DM on another server and need to know that i am seeing the same thing the players see or i end up looking like an idiot.

I have found that overrides can be a double edged sword in an RP situation. as an example here. lets say that "Ugly Elf" is using an override that gives some goblins a set of bone armor. (yes. that's a real one).

Ugly Elf: oh no! goblins!

Sober Dwarf: Point me at ere leader!

Honest Hin: who's leader? I cant SEEEEE!

Sober Dwarf: Shut yer face! We need ta git ere leader! Oi elf! which one is e'?

Ugly Elf: Its the one with the skull helm! quickly! strike him down!

Sober Dwarf: wha the.... nay any of em useing a skull!

Honest Hin: I cannot tell a lie. none of the goblins are wearing a skull.... and i gave away extra gold to those poor orphans.

Ugly Elf: //dude! its right there! kill the one with a skull!

Sober dwarf: // I'm telling you there isn't one

Honest hin: // He's right' no skull..

see the problem? 1 of them is using an appearance override for "enhanced Goblens" while the other 2 are not. The reverse can also be true if one is not using it and the other 2 are. here is a more relivent example to this case

Player 1: Bonks his friend on the head with the rod of frost.

Player 2: Ignores the tiny thing

Player 3: how did you ignore that? the things bigger than his mace!

And remember it can go the other way as well but in all cases is bad for RP.

Keep it optional if possible. A patch would work.

Rescaled Rods are now on the OneDrive. Grab, unpack, and edit your patch file at your leisure. ;)

Shadow entity, as for the RP of it, some things we just have to work through. There are overrides everywhere, you're not going to get away from them.

I guess I don't mind the current rod size so much, but I would like the option to change the bits and pieces on them at a tailor model. I've picked up some pretty ugly rods. :P

I would like to ask the DM's here to at least make a ruling on how big the rods should be Role played as. Not because of either sides pet issues but rather so that we can have an official standard to play by.
