Purchasing a Tower
#1
This is something that I haven't found the answer to. Is there a thread somewhere that explains the prerequisites for using a a deed you have.

The reason I ask, is someone had told me to buy a manor, you had to be the highest rank of your faction/guild. Also, to buy a tower, you had to be a Red Wizard. I haven't found anything to confirm this.

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure that's not true though none of My pc's are in a position for me to find out. Reason i say i think not however is because Daeris owns a manor and saving for a tower. so if she can buy a tower that must mean that its not just for reds.

I'm also curious about this. Previously I thought manors were red wizard/unaffiliated only, but apparently that's not the case? Only towers are faction restricted?

There are no rank affiliations with any building. If you can legitimately buy the building type deed from a deedmaster, you can use it to claim the building.

At one point, *many* real-time years ago there was a notoriety requirement to use *any* building deed, but that has instead been changed to what is hopefully a more realistic deedmaster notoriety requirement to actually buy the deed. It sounds like the confusion is probably stemming from long-term players who weren't aware or don't remember that this changed.

I'm fairly sure I remember reading in the conversation by that grouchy woman who the beggar sends you too, that by joining the Red Wizard Faction your forbidden to own player housing, so if you want be a wizard with your own home you have to be unaffiliated with the red wizards.

Thanks for the quick response.

Actually, I have a PC that had a manor prior to the crash and the deed was replaced, but, I couldn't use it on a manor door until he regained the notoriety to do so, as this thread now clears up. I didn't know if it was because of the notoriety or because he had attained Clergy level of the Temple.

So, now another player's PC was going to buy a tower and I wanted to make sure he didn't get a deed and not be able to use it because he wasn't a Red Wizard.

With a 100k limit on the vault, you have to make some arrangements to afford 120k for a tower.

Thanks for the help. This is true, up until you make Red Wizard. Then you can buy a building and even a merchant if you want. As a Red Wizard Apprentice, you are just a "worm" to be housed at your Master's tower.

Daeris doesn't actually own the manor, and will not actually own the tower either. The only building in her name is the Expansion in Amruthar. At the point when the manor was purchased (just before the time shift) there was a bit of scripting that said you have to be unaffiliated or something else (Guildmaster or Red Wizard maybe) to 'legally' own the property. However nothing stopped her from claiming the manor so it was most likely just text that was not updated. Not sure where it popped up for me so I'll keep an eye on the conversation when she finances the purchase of the tower.

Its true. We have a non-red who owns a tower.

Awesome! Then he should have no trouble. The Deedmaster will sell him the deed. Only thing he'll need to figure out, who will buy his Large House deed.

Thanks!
