I seem to be having some overheating issues, so I may be scarce for a bit til I can get them sorted. I think the fan on my CPU is on it's way out based on the rattle. Regardless, I'll be in town tomorrow, so will try to buy a replacement and see if that works. Possibly some new paste to go under it as well and see if that does not resolve the issue.
My apologies for crashing out of last night's run, but I figured it was best not to try to log aback in only to
A) Crash back out again.
B) Fry my CPU. :P

I use liquid cooling myself and find it to work great :) . Just look for an all in one liquid cooler and not one with removable components.

Good news - I was able to find a fan in the city, albeit it a used one they gave me for free.
Bad news - it sounds like a Hoover and is hard to sit in the same room.
Good News - I'll order a new one online.
Bad News - it may be a few days.
I'll try to tolerate this one, but we'll see...it is that loud.

Well that's a first step. Maybe use headphones and music.

So, Computer gurus, I need your help.
I went to Newegg and found that the fan I need is out of stock. That one is located
here.
Now, I don't have an issue buying a new heatsink/fan combo...but here is where my computer knowledge starts to fall off. There are so many sizes, specs, etc that I am out of my depth. Below are the CPU specs for my machine taken from Speccy. Any ideas on what I can buy/what would fit?
CPU
AMD FX-6300
Cores 6
Threads 6
Name AMD FX-6300
Code Name Vishera
Package Socket AM3+ (942)
Technology 32nm
Specification AMD FX-6300 Six-Core Processor
One other thing. Going to the specifications page of the fan (looks EXACTLY like what is on my PC, by the way) it states compatible with AM3, yet speccy says I have an AM3+, so yeah, confused there.

Well instead of looking for what else would fit, I went and found it on
Amazon for you.

Wow...Amazon really loves that fan. For that price, I think I'll look for an upgrade that would fit.
Thanks for the legwork. :)

I'll look around in a bit and see what else I can find that will work for you.

This one should work if you have not already ordered a fan.
