Request - Gutterbroom Appearance
#1
So Corella got her Gutterbroom of the Mists (which is actually a mask or a helmet), and it looks like this:

Her previous mask/helmet/cowl thingie (which she still wears for battle, while saving the Gutterbroom for social interactions) looks like this:

...which I had colored to look something like the traditional Cleric of Leira appearance from the 2nd Edition/AD&D days:

(I should probably do something about that Cobalt Blue, though. And does our colorset even have that shade of mahogany anywhere?)

The temple's priestess had this to say:

So I don't suppose that there's any chance that Corella could coax the High Priest (or the great and powerful Leira herself) into giving her Gutterbroom a more attractive and traditional appearance, could she? :-/

Just change it yourself. You were told by a Leiran not to change it.

From reading that it sounds to me like the helm (Gutterbroom) is a faction item, like a cloak, which CANNOT have it's appearance altered. The only faction that can alter the appearance of it's faction item is a Red Wizard.

Thayan Gladiators can as well.

I dunno, it looks like a better look to me *shrug* Maybe a permanent change is in order? :D

Also, that picture reminded me of this in case folks haven't seen it: http://ultimosdiasdegloria.com/FR/Galeri...erigos.htm

Har har har. :P

But don't forget that she bookended that command with "By the Mistshadow". You know what that means, right?

Yes. It's a faction item. Other temples' clergyfolk get cloaks. Leirans get headgear because Leirans are special. ;)

Now that I think about it, was the "hooded skull mask" helmet always in the Thay haks, or was it added later?

Yeah, that's the page I visit now and then. It's how I came up with my Cleric of Umberlee's appearance back on the Pirate Isles server; after CEP 2.4 came out, I was sure to add the fluffy-collared cape too. Too bad it's in Portugese, but it's nothing that Google Translate can't remedy. ;)

As for the traditional Leiran cleric garb, the closest that our colorset has to that mahogany color is Dark or Darkest Tan/Red. But we run into a problem when we get to the Metal colors, because Tan/Red isn't on the Metal palette. So we have to substitute Dark Chestnut instead. Sure, you could just cover the whole suit of armor with one of those wizard robes under the Robe options, but who wants to do that when they can show off their lovely chainmail? (Besides, many servers frown on that sort of thing.)

So what I did tonight for Corella's armor (along with a few changes, because it's about time her "battle cleric" armor got a makeover):

(Ha ha. She looks like one of those guys from Magicka!)

"But Wids," you're thinking, "I want to be cool like you and roll up a Leiran too!" (Okay, maybe you weren't thinking that, but you are now!) Well, that's ducky! Here's how I did the rest of the costume:

1) You take your helmet and change it to that "skull mask and cowl" deal.

2) Then you give your helm the following colors:

Leather 1: Mirror
Leather 2: Mirror
Cloth 1: Dark Tan/Red
Cloth 2: Light Tan/Red (because the cowl's mesh darkens its assigned color just a bit)
Metal 1: Dark Chestnut
Metal 2: Dark Chestnut

3) After that, you go to your cape and change it to that Talona cape. Leira's holy symbol is a pointy-side-down triangle with swirly shades of gray inside it, and while we can't get the exact thing, we can get close enough. The swirly paisley patterns on the Talona cape certainly don't hurt, if you're going for that "misty" vibe.

4) Then you give your cape the following colors:

Leather 1: Darkest Tan/Red
Leather 2: Mirror
Cloth 1: Light Tan/Red
Cloth 2: Dark Tan/Red
Metal 1: Mirror
Metal 2: Mirror

5) After that, you'd better go on down to the Temple of Leira and lie your butt off to get your foot in the door and join the clergy, because we're a pretty exclusive bunch. And frankly, I don't think you're good enough. So dream on, Professor Honesty McPersonalIntegrity! Nyah. :P

That's it. Any questions?

Corella's Gutterbroom has now surpassed her Arcane Spellcraft Helm and has become her headgear of choice. Now can I change my Gutterbroom's appearance? Pretty please? That Gutterbroom be funky-looking. :-/

(Awww, she didn't give Corella a funny new title! I like how Initiates are "Sacred Guttersweeps" and Lay Members are "Sacramental Chimneysweeps" in the Temple of Leira. I was hoping that Clergy Initiates would be "Ascetic Stablehands" or "Blessed Fishmongers" or whatnot.)

New Gutterbroom! :D

Thank you, Thayan and Sundraoi, for making this happen. And thank you, Carcass, for digging it out of the new Items and putting it on Corella's head (after yoinking the old one, of course). :)

Oh, and good attention to detail too: Faiths and Avatars has this to say:

"Leiran clergy members all dress alike: in long, cowled, bottom-fringed robes of russet to ochre, lined and streaked with green, tied with sashes of the same material, and worn with gloves and dis-tinctive smooth, silvered glass masks."

So it looks like Thayan beat me at my own thang here. I'll get Corella to a tailor and add some green trim to her garb. Good catch, Thayan! :)
