What about posting information in fragments that are not actually links to youtube? Maybe there's a juicy work around for this law?

With all the work KTA put into these forums and the Thaypw.org domain name he keeps up for us, if he is willing, as he has stated he is, too keep it up, I see no reason to move. It seems to me the biggest gripe is with not being allowed to post videos to the forums. Big deal. If someone wants to see what you've linked, minus the http:/www part, they can go find it easily enough. We've had these forums up and running since before the Thay world reset and have never had issues with it. Why fix or change what's not broken?

I agree with this. Willing to help with initial cost if it's decided to change but don't think it's really necessary.

I think I got it. If I wanted to link a video, could I instead not simply quote the title of the video and let those interested simply copy pasta the quote into the YuhTub?

Yes. Just post the address without the http://www before it. People can copy and paste it if they wish to view the video.

But that's just addressing the symptoms, not the disease. It still stands that Germany has some pretty heavy-handed laws compared to the rest of the First World, in part brought on by Germany's many trigger-happy litigators and the virtual minefield that they've created. It's not just the videos; if the German authorities or their money-hungry legal eagles peek in here and see something -- anything -- that they don't like, somebody is getting fined, sued, shut down or any/all of the above. Just as an example, there's a fairly obvious reason why the entire Wolfenstein computer game series is verboten in Germany. If someone in here starts chatting away about the latest Wolfenstein installment, and some German lawyer skims on through, who knows what could happen next?

If it ain't broken don't fix it. There is more possibly to lose in migration than staying.

I think only KTA knows that, which is part of my slight concern with him being non-active and why I even brought this up for public discussion. I *believe* that what we have now is a forum site running on a server machine that KTA pays for to host another site(s) of his, as well. My assumption with this is that back when we were waiting for the thaypw.org name to become available once Axdec let it lapse, I believe KTA setup the site to run under a thaypw.7th-sphere.net domain (or something like that).
