Pickpocketing gives no experience points. Why ?
#1
Question
Hello !

The first time I created a pure non-combat-thief, or to be more accurate a thief who sucks at fighting, I was surprised to find that pickpocketing does not give the slightest experience points.

And pickpocketing can only be used every 2 rounds or so also, and most of the time the victims doesn't even have something to steal either.

Why is that ? Why not giving with a successful pickpocketing-attempt some meager experience-points ?

I mean, when you play a very strong warrior, you get experience-points for even the easiest kills, and you can repeat that over and over again, very quick.

By the way, this is in no way a criticism, it's just that I had always wondered since i played the PW for the very first month or so, but never wanted to bother a DM online to ask about that.

There are many things out there that give you xp!

Pick pocketing isn't one of them - You have a chance at free gold and possibly an item or two later on! Also it would be easily abused!

Preaching and finding information from an NPC will warrant you a more than adequate Experience gain while you are pick pocketing! Which despite it not giving XP can be very rewarding later on in levels and extremely advantageous to certain quests that will gain you fair experience!

Picking Locks, Disabling Traps are two ways a rogue can gain xp for their skills so test a lock every now and then :)!
