Player Joinable Factions

Just a curiousity, with the new ability for anyone to join the temple practically, I'm a little confused about the wording of what the temples say.

For example, the term Hound used to be applied to clergy joining the Temple of Bane, but now it says Initiate.

Does a Priest who joins a temple required to go through the Non-Clergy Initiate status first, or is it still considered that your priest joins as a Low-ranking Clergy, not just a common member?

I'm only asking because I joined the Temple of Bane, but it refers to me as an Initiate, not a Hound. Is this a mistake, or just a longer path to power now?

Any PC enters as initiate and has to work their way up, meeting the requirements that is.

Are these requirements different for every temple? Different for Priests compared to other classes? Or is the only real requirement raising notoriety?

Nope, the requirements are as stated in the first post of this thread:

Quote:Temple Initiate - New PC of any class. Receives a small discount to temple healing and stores if they exist. Discount increases as new temple ranks are attained
Lay Member - Temple Initiate of any class. Receives faction item and may access restricted areas of the temple
Clergy Initiate - Lay Member who has at least 1 Cleric, Druid, Paladin, or Blackguard level. Note that not all faiths allow Druids, Paladins, or Blackguards so review the in-game list of Forgotten Realms gods in the Player Guide for those that do. May begin using faction item to request aid from other members of the temple and extraplanar servants of their god
Clergy - Clergy Initiate who has at least 5 Cleric, Druid, Paladin, or Blackguard levels
Respected Clergy - Clergy member who has at least 10 Cleric, Druid, Paladin, or Blackguard levels

Well according to this list, I shouldn't be an initiate at all because the character has 5 levels in cleric, it should be that he's Clergy, not Initiate at all, yet it states initiate.

Can you understand my confusion now?

This may just be a misunderstanding of the particular vernacular used, but clarification would be nice.

You start as Temple Initiate and may only proceed beyond Lay Member IF your PC meets the requirements for a clergy career.

yes,.. you still need the notoriety to move on even if all other prereqs are met.
