Jousting -the sport of kings and nobility- is no longer restricted to the plateau of High Thay. The Tournament Grounds of Tyraturos, for example, is one of several locations open to all who would compete in or watch jousting matches.
Overview
Jousting matches consist of making a pass with lance at an opponent on a special field known as a joust list. The goal being to strike your opponent as hard and accurately as possible in an effort to knock them from their saddle or failing this, earn points. A match typically consists of four passes with lance with points being tallied as follows:
-One point for a strike with lance.
-Two for breaking your lance.
-Outright victory for unhorsing your opponent.
A lance rack at each end of the field will provide lances for the combatants. Simply take a lance from the rack and signify you are ready to meet all challengers by clicking the end of joust list. When your opponent is ready he shall do the same and the joust will begin.
A jousting instructor (NPC) is also present to offer a challenge to those wishing to joust by themselves. Simply speak to him and he shall meet you with lance.
Jousting has long been the sport of choice amongst knights everywhere. A knight’s competence in battle and skill with horse make them better suited to competing. Although any with the some martial prowess, skill with horse, and the discipline and concentration to master the art can do well. Though any steed can carry a champion if their master's ability to guide his mount is great enough, mounts of exceptional quality are highly prized in the sport, their superior strength and intelligence adding to their master’s chance of victory.
