Consequences
#1
Hello!

I have recently noticed, that people do not understand that some actions have this thing called "Consequences", it usually appears when you give the big badass Cyricist a funny petname, offend a Red or perhaps spit on a Legionnaire.

On a few recent occasions where people have given Richal petnames, and in general annoyed him I have beaten them with Subdual (Tho I forgot it at one occasions tho that was settled afterwards in a friendly manner OOC ). This usually ended up in them complainning to me OOC about how I was horrible at RP and such.

What I'm getting at here is that I want people to remmber that pissing off powerfull people usually is not a good thing, however funny they may look.

I agree completely. If you are not respectful in situations where this is appropriate (near people who have the authority, or just the power, to make your life miserable) you should deal with the consequences ingame. Be stupid ingame, deal with consequences ingame.

I'll probably post more of my thoughts when I am less tired.

Maybe the thing called "real life" can be seen as a example eh? :D

Indeed, you did not kick someone from the Inqusition on the shin, and expect nothing to happen in the Middle ages.

Also when would people in general see it fit to kill off a Character for doing something stupid ingame?

I know it depends on alot of diffrence things, I'm just curious.

Thank you for bringing this to may attention Richal..perhaps this is my fault....

I cannot help but enjoy my time in Thay...and is often the case while enjoying myself I am in a good mood and this causes strange and alien feelings of well wishing to all my fellow sentients.

This is a fault...In truth I am a ruthless and brutal creature predisposed to exacting a murderous orgy of violence upon any whithin greatsword reach.

Often times creatures offend me with their wanton frivolity and ill concieved attempts at mirth. Usually this results in the standard beating to within an inch of their life...but on occasion these beatings stop well before this mark...2 or even 3 inches from being mortal. Were it possible to see beneath my heavy black helm one might even see my features contorted into something other than wanton murderous glee..the hint of an open and honest smile of enjoyment could be creeping onto my countenance a far less dark visage wholly out of place.

I stand chagrined and chastised for having failed my fellow thayans in this..I shall restore mine beatings and foul humor to their previous maxim of excellence and shirk mine duty no longer..to this I vow a solemn oath here before them...

*Takes out his greatsowrd and drives it's point DEEP into the floor of the forums*

"Gruumsh, by thine centermost and most sacrosanct of the seven holy scrotes I shall stay mine hand no longer..with the aid of the sixth and seventh conjoined testicles of wrath and honesty I shalt smite those deserving and by the thirdmost from the left hallowed testicle of limitless brutality I shall spare no strength in this holy task"

"I VORTAR swear this..take my offering of blood and let my pain speed this vow to thy ears mighty Gruumsh, that your son be always in thy baleful gaze"

*Raises his head to the sky and removes his helm before dropping to his knee and bashing his Eye upon the pommel of his sword with bone shattering force*

//ooc// I try to play in character with Vortar but occasionally am too soft with allowing silliness...especially with new or low level characters pretty much everyone here in thay are fantastic roleplayers..it's an evil land, populated with evil people...some of them very powerful. Try to remember that and understand who is who. That being said, I despise ganking or griefing (wanton, senseless abuse of others because you have the power to do so) and NEVER indulge in this. If players generally behave in a manner that should earn them an eggregious beating..they should get one, please don't be discouraged or surprised if your PC is beaten nearly to death or blasted for calling Dread Lord Maurin or some other luminary "fluffy, snugglebutton, twinklefinger, sugardoody,or booboola"

I personally do not like random attacks on people for no reason either, but when people walks up to Ricahl calling him "Skull-face" and poiting out that his Hell Hound is 'cute' I for the most part give them a good beating, tho warning them ingame to step back and shut up before doing so. (Also Hell hounds are in no way 'cute' at all..)

I play here after leaving a server for much of the same reasons as this.

I see consequences being ignored as a bad omen. It means to me, people are ignoring what their characters would do, or feel. To ensure they, the players, are having fun. So I am glad this is being commented on, and should be bumped every once in awhile.

I am glad permadeath is not forced here, but that doesnt mean you are immortal. As a constant visitor to the fugue, I can say first hand you will not like it there. So smarten up and be IC, or if needed, get in it before you get to visit Kaisers second home.

Yes people should be allowed to have fun, but it should never come at the expence of yours and others rp. Yes this is -just- a game. But if you only want to treat it as a game, I can direct you to many hack and slash servers that the dreaded "Drama Monster" wont come after you.

I haven't been around to see this but in my experience it usually boils down to.

Some high level evil/badguy characters want their characters to be feared/respected and when someone doesn't treat them that way for some reason, it is very easy for the high level to start thinking "I'm a villain/high level and I must beat them up so they will start respecting/fearing my character"

Low level players want to RP their character concept freely just like the high level but does not necessarily have the levels to back them up. Usually when a low level player gets picked on by a higher level they feel like "This person is ruining my roleplay" and thats when the OOC grievance starts.

While beating up someone who is acting like a jerk to your character would be the "right way" for your characters personality it would be a whole lot better if you informed the other person OOCly that their behavior may trigger a PVP fight so they are aware of it in advance before it actually comes down to it when all the damage is already done.

Sometimes it is better to find an excuse not to fight a player even if that is how your character would respond, make up an excuse not to engage the character but let them off with a warning, if it continues despite all of your efforts to avoid conflict then they had it coming.

The problem lies in that not alot of people take threat's serious, unless you kick their ass atleast once, I allways hand out warning and most people back down, but some don't and they are beaten.

And rather than sending a tell most people understand that it may trigger a PVP-fight when it suddenly says "**Subdual Damage**" Above the head of the one they are pissing on.

I agree with the above, I have seen abuse of such things like this elsewhere. Like others have said it is a two way street and you the player need to know whom you are dealing with. Sometimes it is better to observe in slience then get beaten to a pulp.
