Stores Short on Coin
#1
Hi,

Ok, so I've been here a while now, and though not nearly as long as many of the players, I've had a chance to see how things work. One thing I constantly seem to run into is that a store "does not have enough coin to purchase any more items". I was wondering, seeing as the player number has doubled, tripled given some estimates from players, if it would be possible to increase the amount of coin a store can use to purchase items. Or if there would be any consideration given to faster store, gold, replenishment.

I ask out of respectful optimism, don't wish to sound at all otherwise.

I'd also like to say thank you to Thayan and all those who work to make this server as incredible as it is. I have yet to find a server/community it felt so good to be a part of. So thank you! :-)

Respectfully,

One small fix that might help is to flag quest items like skeleton knuckles stolen so people who already have their rewards won't nickel and dime away the merchant's gold.

In general quest items cost 1gp, so it really would not make a diffrence.

If a merchant is 1 gold short he won't buy an item.

I agree and also maybe the Ochre Icor which is just as plentiful as the knuckles if not more so.

There was a change in how often merchants replenish their supply of gold, but part of that is contingent upon people not being in the area with the merchants. Some of the ones in other settlements are more likely to have coin available.

Yes, the ones in Bezantur market place rarely gets new gold, as several people (Myself included) Enjoy idleing there, when I'm looking for RP, mostly because there is a larger chance of people comeing past that area. Which is where a suggestiong i mentioned in an earlier thread(I think) comes into play, perhaps people should use inn's for meeting and general idleing? so that the Merchants have a chance to get the new gold.

I also find it very classic for Adventurers to meet in an Inn. (Classic=Nice)

Meeting at inns and taverns classic for adventurers, but not all are adventurers and Thay in general is a world of kill and be killed mentality, strong survive though in recent in game events characters have gotten together.
One side to the shortage of coin I think by the merchants is lack of quality gear for the coin and maybe level restrictions on items. These are sort of a catch 22. They can help a player survive to reach a higher level but they can not use it until they are the level. Merchants usually get decent gear that ironically they buy from adventurers.
This is not a criticism on the world mechanics just an observation. :D

Need quality gear? Talk to the players that have reached higher levels, I am sure they can get you what you want - for the right price. Or create your own...

Being as lazy as i am i have still learned that while it might be annoying to travel from one merchant to another in a differnt town to get the gold you are looking for, it can sometimes be worth it as you never know what you might find there. As far as crafting your own items or buying it from other players i have mainly done this on Aerin but be warned the cost soon skyrockets to do anything of worth, i have sometimes found myself saying no just because i know i usually only pull in so much per " solo grind" session. to be honest many of the player run merchants items are nice and can sometimes cost far less and be far more powerful then what it would to craft them yourselves much to my own dismay on more then 1 occasion however for many of the lower lvl players the cost of some things can still be far out of reach until the item they wanted is no longer useful by the time they save enough gold to buy it :(
The greatest joy for a man is to defeat his enemies, to drive them before him, to take all they possess, to see those they love in tears.
