The Forgotten Realms Calendar and Holidays

Bigby's Red Wizard Apprentice would probably like to know that day too. :)

But after doing a quick Google search for "Velsharoon godhood date -minecraft" (since one of those goofy Minecraft players named himself Velsharoon and waxes endlessly about Minecraft, which is entirely irrelevant here), I can't find anything about the date that Velsharoon ascended to godhood. I have learned, however, that Velsharoon and Szass Tam were rival Red Wizards wagering to see which of them could become the most powerful. Szass Tam achieved dominion over Thay, while Velsharoon became a god and won the contest. This probably explains why Velsharoon worship is unsupported, downplayed or even oppressed in Thay; Szass Tam is a bitter old bastard. ;)

Also, Velsharoon is utterly annihilated in 4th Edition, and with a feeble explanation that amounts to "Velsharoon caught on fire and died." As if we need any further evidence that 4th Ed sucks. Rolleyes

The best information I have is that he became a demigod at the end of 1368 DR. Calling Tam a bitter old bastrad may prove a bad idea - Zulkirs notice when someone says their name...

What if you call him a bitter old bastrad [sic] while on a Spelljammer vessel in Realmspace? :D

Hey. You know how the end of Flamerule's coming up in-game? How do we determine whether or not this year is the Faerunian Leap Year (meaning that there might be a Flamerule 31st and a Shieldmeet holiday to go with it)?

I'm assuming they're on years evenly divisible by 4, like IRL, so the next one would be in 1364.
Currently Playing:

Galambos Thrune - Griffon Knight
Archibold Vanderdaghast - Palemaster
Anders Maerklos - Spellsword
Chessala Zolond - Yathrin d'Lolth

It is now only about six more real-life days until Highharvestide! Maybe this might mean a Zulkir or two holding an open court and listening to their citizens bitch and gripe (and occasionally FWACKOOMING the ones who annoy them too deeply), but it will probably just come down to a buttload of drinking contests, right? ;)

As it ever occurs, the holidays of the Hidden Lord were overlooked here... which seems to go far in indicating His power and puissance at, remaining Hidden.

I give you:

The church of Gargauth celebrates two holy days.

The Unveiling, which occurs each Midwinter night (Hammer 30 - Alturiak 1).
(The Unveiling is celebrated with a horrific ceremony, believed to involve many gruesome sacrifices, heralding the imminent time when Gargauth shall seize Faerûn as his unholy kingdom and transport it to Baator to form the Tenth Pit of Hell.)

The Binding, which is celebrated on the eve of the Feast of the Moon (Uktar 29).
(The Binding is celebrated with a personal ritual in which each cleric renews his eternal contract with Gargauth, trading absolute fealty for increased power. This unholy ritual is believed to involve personal sacrifices of money, magic, and hoarded knowledge and the casting of many horrific spells.)
