I would try setting up the desk top short cut which goes directly to Thay. I think too with win 8, from what I have heard you need to disable the run as adminsitrator option.
Wings of Stardust Wrote:C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwmain.exe +connect 65.101.102.74:5121

Basically, putting: +connect 65.101.102.74:5121
Into a shortcut on your desktop (Or anywhere really) will severely cut down on the time it takes to get into Thay

That's picking a short-cut (Right click and you'll see where it's targeted), directing it to nwnmain.exe (If it's not already) and adding the +connect and IP.

You might have to change the exe file to something like Thaymain.exe and using compatabilty mode for XP SP3

No, use SP2. NwN is known to have issues with SP3.

RE: NWN Crashing Reference Thread - Animayhem - 09-19-2013

I was mentioned SP3 because she is using win 8. I know other who have win 8 and use SP3
Worth a shot. :D

Thanks for your replies, Bert and Ani.

I run compatability mode xp...sp3....wouldn't run at all with sp2. For some reason, or I am just thick, If I disable administrator rights, it won't connect either.

I will try making a link to Thay, just to shorten the time of getting into game, but I think I shall leave the rest alone.

I can handle the odd time 'server response time' kicks me out.

Thanks again. :D

Just a suggestion, but this might be a good one to sticky if you can. I found it while trolling through old posts, looking for something like this. :)

RE: NWN Crashing Reference Thread - Bertram Anders - 02-27-2014

It is a sticky.

RE: NWN Crashing Reference Thread - Miscr3ant - 02-27-2014

Thank you. :)

Some other things worth mentioning.

Check to see if you are set for 32bit or 64bit.
For some reason NWN defaults to 64 but will stay at 32 once you change it.

Also maybe reduce the graphic quality over all. Turn off things like shiny water or grass.

Sometimes instant messaging services or open browsers can cause it.
(Yea I know multitaskers may not want to hear that :P)

Check your firewall.
