Things to check if your NWN is crashing often.
1. First, ask youself if you have you changed anything on the computer running NWN prior to the crashes? Like (re)installation of software or drivers, or changed hardware.
-This could be the issue. Rolling back drivers could would be a good place to start if you've updated them.
2. Rename your override file, and see if that helps. If it does then its a file in your override. The original files are listed here, as well as a link to download them all: http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Override
3. If you are running Windows 7, you can disable your Aero GUI.
4. Run the program in compatibility mode for Windows XP sp2 (sp3 is known to have issues with NwN.) You can disable desktop composition and visual themes as well.
5. Changing your -client cpu affinity to 1- in your nwnplayer.ini
6. Check your firewall and router settings. Use this site for reference: http://nwncampaigns.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=106
Hope this helps. :D

1. Get rid of the NWN multiplayer server delay:
In your windows/system32/drivers/etc folder there is a file called hosts. Open that file with notepad and right at the bottom of the document put these lines of text, exactly as written, on separate lines:
0.0.0.0 nwmaster.bioware.com
0.0.0.0 nwn.master.gamespy.com
Should work for Windows 7/ XP, probably Vista too. If you're not logged in as Administrator you may need to run Notepad as Administrator to be able to save your changes.
I tried this myself last night, worked like a charm for me. Basically, it's just telling your computer that when any program is looking for either of those URLs to use a blank IP address. That will fail instantly rather than the roughly 30 second timeout otherwise.
2. Disabling all NWN intro Movies
You don't want to have to click seven times every time NWN starts up in order to get to the Main Menu?
Edit your nwn.ini file. Under [Display Options], add the following line:
Disable Intro Movies=1
Tempus' orders to all combatants:
1. Be fearless. 2. Never turn away from a fight. 3. Obey the rules of war.
