RE: Thayan's Tips of the Day - Wids - 12-02-2014 Okay, regarding this earlier postie, Zelis got slapped with a heucuva's curse while she was chopping down a spectre. The undead can be so rude, right? So anyway, even though that curse was seriously cramping Zelis' style, I took the opportunity to do some shopping around with most of Bezantur's temples as well as the one entire temple in Amruthar, and here's what prices were proposed for removing Zelis' curse. Bear in mind that Zelis chose Sune as her matron deity (even though Zelis also gives the odd prayer to Tempus or Uthgar as well). The House of the Black Lord (Temple of Cyric): XXX Talons Temple of Sharess: XXX Talons Temple of Gargauth: XXX Talons Temple of Mask: XXX Talons I skipped the Temple of Beshaba because apparently I suck at finding cheese in a maze. Temple of Talos: XXX Talons Temple of Bane: XXX Talons The Flaming Brazier (Temple of Kossuth): XXX Talons Temple of Tyr: XXX Talons Temple of Lolth: XXX Talons (Lolth can kiss my grits for that price.) Temple of Gond: XXX Talons Temple of Leira: XXX Talons Temple of Talona: XXX Talons Temple of Myrkul: The priest just kept whining about his stupid dead god and wouldn't give me a quote. :P Temple of Malar: XXX Talons (I now owe Lolth an apology....) Temple of Umberlee: XXX Talons Temple of Shar: XXX Talons Ilmater's Hobo Shack Cathedral: XXX Talons (Seriously, Ilmater? Lolth and Umberlee both beat the God of Healing? Sheesh.) Temple of Helm: XXX Talons Temple of Lliira: XXX Talons Temple of Oghma: XXX Talons Temple of Sune: XXX Talons House of Cyric: XXX Talons (WTF?) Temple of Tempus: XXX Talons Temple of Jubilex Jiulbex Slime Guy Old Slimy the Blob Juiblex: XXX Talons Temple of Mystra: Don't know. Still can't find it. So in the end, despite Cyric's generous offer, Zelis went back to Sune's temple and got de-cursed there. So even though it does seem like the character's chosen deity lowers the prices of temple services--even for non-initiates--it's no assurance that your god's temple will have the best prices going. But it's still the way to bet. (And honestly, has anyone in this server's entire history ever joined the Temple of Juiblex? Unless you get to go to the basement and harvest all the delicious Ichor you want, it seems like a losery temple to join. :s ) Edit by Thayan to remove price spoilers. ;) RE: Thayan's Tips of the Day - Gatalis - 12-02-2014 Ilmater is supposed to be a hobo shack. His clergy has more monastic orders than any other deity because it's based around martyrdom (There's a reason most of them are cynical), and technically paladins/clerics of Ilmater are supposed to take vows of poverty, lol. They collect their money strictly from donations and are told to go find the rattiest part of town to set up shop in order to ensure the poor/downtrodden can get cheap/free healing (in Thay they get in trouble all the time for healing slaves, free or not free). Now Ilmatari scholars on the other hand... Those monasteries are the bomb. Lineage/genealogy records big enough to match Oghma's up in that shit (don't fuck with Ilmatari scholars, they kill dragons for fun). ... Ilmater's probably one of my favorite deities. I like playing Paladins/Monks of Ilmater. Especially based on second edition materials (Ilmater kind of got toned down with 3rd/4th edition. He was pretty freaking scary originally, one of the few deities you never wanted to piss off even as a bad guy). Also, I'm really, really tempted to make a wizard who worships Juiblex and has a slime fetish now... RE: Thayan's Tips of the Day - Wids - 12-02-2014 Yes, we already know all that. The Ilmatari are like Jesus, they heal and raise the dead and heal some more, and they give money to the poor and die for the greater good and do all kinds of nice things. ...and they still have the nerve to call their crab shack a "Cathedral". :P And apparently the Loviatans screw around with Ilmatari just fine. Tristella (my old Loviatan Blackguard) used to walk down to Ilmater's Cathedral and start eating and drinking to excess right in front of the priests, pausing only to say "Want a bite?" before immediately wolfing down whatever she was offering. Then she'd walk right back out, because screw the poor. If the poor wanted whatever Tristella was eating, they'd better be willing to suffer a dozen lashes for it first. Best of luck with your quest for slime, should you go ahead with that initiative. And watch whatever comes out when you blow your nose; you might be spawning something. ;) RE: Thayan's Tips of the Day - DarkRanger - 12-02-2014 Nice thing about Jubilex, it's one of the few temples that promote anyone to the highest rank regardless of class levels. RE: Thayan's Tips of the Day - Wids - 12-02-2014 So does Entropy. If you like championing absolute nothingless but don't want to take Cleric levels to do it, join the Entropy guys! :) Know what? Zelis completely overlooked Loviatar's Manor somehow. I have dishonored my house. :( RE: Thayan's Tips of the Day - MoreThanThree - 12-02-2014 (12-02-2014, 01:35 AM)Wids Wrote: The Ilmatari are like Jesus, they heal and raise the dead and heal some more, and they give money to the po That's a lie. Whichever deity your character worships has better deals than the Ilmatari. RE: Thayan's Tips of the Day - Gatalis - 12-02-2014 I like to pretend they charge so much because their services are mostly for peasants and the working class, so adventurers subsidize the costs by paying a premium. Nawww, really? I would never have guessed. (Also, you totally wrecked that quote, matey. :P ) RE: Thayan's Tips of the Day - Wids - 12-02-2014 Eep! My post! My beloved fruit of field research! Help! Help! I'm being repressed! O_O Ah, well. Suffice it to say that, with one exception, Sune's temple was the lowest bidder for Sune-loving Zelis. And anyone who charges 300 or more for curse removal needs to take a flying leap through a doughnut hole, because that's way too much. :P RE: Thayan's Tips of the Day - Miscr3ant - 12-02-2014 Bloody peasant. :P |
