I think the problem with overrides is when you also use patches. I'm assuming most people having trouble here with overrides are also using patches for things like thay-drylands etc.

The standard "rapier" models in NWN have always reminded me more of a cavalry saber. The true rapier was only found in Europe so when people are saying "European rapier" i am not sure what it is being compared to unless people are confusing it for another sword.

Now This link will take you to a pic of a true rapier style sword. Rapier

In contrast you can see on this link how NWN portrays something more like a saber or perhaps a court sword. Saber / Court Sword

Now the irony is that i am actually ok with this naming mistake in this one case.. Which is odd cause i am usually a stickler for accuracy but here is my reason. Thay seems (at least in my opinion) to try to mimic a semi medevial setting. Granted it has magic and stuff tossed in but it is generally medieval overall. If the is the case than court swords and sabers fit the bill for the setting better than rapiers due to the setting as rapiers were more of a Renaissance sword.

Rapiers were developed due to guns now playing the dominant role on the battlefield so heavy armor was no longer a major factor in combat. With the ability to simply shoot your opponent with a heavy metallic slug Gothic style armor quickly vanished from the battlefield and soon the most anyone would bother to use was a simple breastplate.

That is not the world of thay which relies on big armor big magic and big armies.

Anyway draw your own conclusions but i hope you at least see my point :D

Possibly. I think the recent hak has some of those patches built in.
