Thayan's Tips of the Day

Thayan's Tip of the Day: Tired of worrying if you got infected by a lycan's bite? Consider playing a Paladin. Their Divine Health ability grants them immunity to the lycanthropy disease.
Tempus' orders to all combatants:
1. Be fearless. 2. Never turn away from a fight. 3. Obey the rules of war.

Updated, updated and updated. Thanks, Hellstrom and Bertram, for tending the fire while I was away. :)

Let me know if I missed any, folks.

Updated again. :)

While the Water Breathing spell is groovy and all, what bothers me about it is how Sahuagin Battle Clerics (and various other aquatic critters) cast Dispel Magic very frequently. So what happens if a wise-acre sahuagin dispels my Water Breathing while I'm deep inside the Sunken Sea caves of Underwateriness and Whatnot?

I'll just stick with my magic SCUBA helm, thanks. :(

Thayan's Tip of the Day: The Water Breathing spell is invaluable for underwater adventuring, but in addition it will also protect you from drown spells or attacks - like those performed by Water Elementals.

Question. Does this work with the water helm or replace it?

Best to have a couple of those spells prepared just in case then. Drowning takes place over several rounds, so you'll have time enough to cast it again if one gets dispelled.

Thanks for pointing out that the waterbreathing helm needs to change. As with the magic of a ring of nondetection no longer granting permanent immunity to scrying, expect the helm of waterbreathing to be changing sometime in the very near future as well. Most likely it will be changing to a waterbreathing spells per day model rather than a permanent "always on" model like it is now.

But if you still want a permanent always on water breathing item for your PC, my next tip is that you have it join the temple of Istishia on the Alaor or the shrine of Umberlee in Thasselen.

Since you're on the topic of water breathing, I think I noticed that taking off the water breathing helmet in the elemental plane of infinite ocean doesn't make you gag.

Having this change for water breathing would also be exciting. It would force a party to first look for the exit portal and time their stay based on the number of water breathing uses and duration much like divers IRL.

The elemental plane of water isn't flagged as an underwater area, therefore water breathing helmets or spells aren't necessary there.

This would affect Murbant submerged caves and the Aloar flooded caverns and other similar areas.

Wow....so that's a bug I never knew existed. Please plan for the elemental water areas to require the ability to breathe underwater as well sometime in the very near future.

Oh wow, I always thought that was deliberate.
