I travel overland extensively with my new character and as of yet I've not experienced this problem. However, I have noticed one difference in the way Wings and I move about:

And for any others who post who may experience this problem - please post if you are also using the keyboard or mouse for movement when the problem occurs.

I use the mouse only for my movement. I pretty much only use keyboard movement for fine-tune walking about, like getting through gates and facing other PCs.
