Ilmater is supposed to be a hobo shack. His clergy has more monastic orders than any other deity because it's based around martyrdom (There's a reason most of them are cynical), and technically paladins/clerics of Ilmater are supposed to take vows of poverty, lol. They collect their money strictly from donations and are told to go find the rattiest part of town to set up shop in order to ensure the poor/downtrodden can get cheap/free healing (in Thay they get in trouble all the time for healing slaves, free or not free).
Now Ilmatari scholars on the other hand... Those monasteries are the bomb. Lineage/genealogy records big enough to match Oghma's up in that shit (don't fuck with Ilmatari scholars, they kill dragons for fun).
...
Ilmater's probably one of my favorite deities. I like playing Paladins/Monks of Ilmater. Especially based on second edition materials (Ilmater kind of got toned down with 3rd/4th edition. He was pretty freaking scary originally, one of the few deities you never wanted to piss off even as a bad guy).
Also, I'm really, really tempted to make a wizard who worships Juiblex and has a slime fetish now...
