If you don't add extra enhancements on it...ie...keep it to the weight reduction and +1....when the time comes you can just place +2 onto it without removing the the +1 first.

Oh... so I really wouldn't be upgrading, I'd just be adding a 3rd enchant that would cause the +1 to be ignored? Good to know.

A tip....please make sure you read all the forge tells you...it could stop you making something you won't be able to use until a few levels later.

Hahaha... I've done that once already and learned my lesson :) It was with my weapon master's main weapon too Luckily I only had to get another 2k xp to use it again.
