As an old player returned (Hey to all of you!) I have and still do vote to keep permadeath out of the picture. Yes it may come in handy with RP, yes it makes people more cautious. But it hurts the gameplay and really makes people annoyed and that much more likely not to play. As a player i'd accept a characters death, i'd be extreamly pissed about it becasue I consider all my characters very dear, but I would do it to help the Thay community. However, the fugue plane offers an experince that cannot be denied. How often are you shown how powerful magic can really be? In a magic-based socieity you NEED these reminders. In Thay, no matter who you are, there is someone else above you that can destroy you like a bug, or reward you like a king. And to me, the fugue plane and the chance to see a higher power really makes ME want to play
I cant speak for all of you and I wont presume to do so, but permadeath brings a great deal of saddness and anger to every player. You have a influencal character who no one would dare attack in the right mind, and you get hit by a couple of lucky critical hits and all of that is over. No respawn, nothing. You. Are. Dead. And while this can help in many cases, I dont see the real worth of it.
Well, theres my rant for the day, but in all seriousness, I really dont think permadeath should be included and it would hurt the Thayan Community
