The Legion's and their punishment's

Beatings always seem to work... I know Kolde won't be forgetting who he serves anymore... Even if he doesn't actually mind the beatings so much...

Excatly the same I was referring to, as being kicked out should allways be the last resort.

Well, I expect my characters to take some lumps. Like I said, "It's Thay." I just hope someone will give me an OOC tell with "The answer is X" or "Your character won't be killed, just black and blue with bruises for a month." It really does seem like the players here are great about keeping IC and OOC separate. IC - Cold and calculating Thayans willing to kill at the drop of a hat. OOC - Players playing a game and welcoming players that are new to the server (because really, who is new to the game at this point?) despite the terrible things their characters might be doing.

Respects,

Am

I wonder, would Red Wizards be able to use their robes on Legion members, considering the relationship between the two?

Use their robes on them?

Whoever is able to perform the actions described above, it would be nice if it wasn't all negative effects. Perhaps a notoriety bonus that works only for advancement in the faction? Or some kind of temporary bonus to gp/xp/notoriety from faction related sources(quests from the faction NPC are the only ones that come to mind). This would encourage a lot of sticking together between faction members, something that I think would be nice to see more of. Players who can only make it at less active times or are members of obscure/hard-to-find/unpopular factions would be at a disadvantage, however.

To block or unblock advancement, or boot them out of the legion.

Red Wizards already get a number of special abilities. Being able to control advancement of another faction's members is not one I want to add to the list. However, Red Wizards still technically have the ability to command a ranking member of the Legion to perform one of those actions on a member of the legion even if they don't agree with the Red Wizard's demands....

I didn't want to advertise this yet as it is not yet implemented in the live module, but yesterday as I was working on this a few things got revised and I already updated the Player Joinable Factions thread to indicate the options that are going to become available. If you take a look at it, members of rank 3+ will be able halt faction advancement, 4+ will be able to boot faction members, and rank 5 will be able to give a one-time, one-rank promotion up to and including rank 4 of that faction (but they won't be able to promote others to their same level - rank 5).
As an exception to these upcoming changes, Red Wizards will not be able to halt faction advancement or boot Red Wizard Apprentices - that can only be done by the DMs alone (presumably playing the apprentice's master).

Again though, these changes are not active yet and may not be until the next server update.

Ah... well, you just missed the cutoff for being "new." Six months is it. ;-)

Out of curiosity, did you play PnP AD&D at any time? Or was this entirely new for you in every way?
