Relinquish Claim on your Player Houses

Daeris' house is no longer haunted and the spooks returned all her pilfered items ..err.. the items that were donated to her. Yay! Thank you Thayan.

Maurice just reclaimed his house.

Strangely, it was the exact reverse of what I read would happen. The merchant who didn't spawn for me to fire was still there and even his inventory was intact.

The door leading upstairs, however, now reads as 33 DC, 20 HP, and 12 Def. I don't know if I should post the settings I had it at, but I spent a good portion of the crash cash to make it practically invulnerable to everything but the simple Knock spell.

(I remember reading once that home door locks were modified to make it a percentile roll dependent on the strength of the lock. Every time I had it tested by the lowest level mage capable of casting that spell, it opened 100% of the time.)

Um, could a DM just set the door at what I wrote down while I was working on it? I don't think it hit the triple digit-K, but it was pretty high in the dbl digit-K if I remember the cost correctly.

That was the interior door problem which was reported yesterday, and I thought I had fixed in time. Fuck it then. Anyone who has lost an interior door's improvements due to relinquishing claim or losing a place due to late taxes, fix up the door again to where you think you had it, and then let me or another DM know how much gold you spent so you can be reimbursed - if you would still like/need that money. I'll take everyone's word on how much they spent.

This is from the server updates thread from awhile back. You need to get the lock DC up beyond a certain point, and after that there's a d100 roll to determine if Knock will unlock a door. So it sounds like you were getting unlucky with the rolls of the lower level mages.

Now, if a lock DC is over a certain threshold, the Knock spell will do a d100 roll vs. the lock DC and, if the roll is lower than the DC, the spell will not be able to open it - at least for several in-game days. However, no matter how complex a lock, there is always at least a 10% chance the Knock spell can open it. The primary intention of this change is to make player houses much more secure (but not impregnable) if investments have been made to door locks, but also to increase the value of becoming a truly skilled rogue

Kay.

Sorry about the unfortunate tidings. Maybe it had something to do with being an interior door rather than the exterior (which I figure would be more often the case).
