Q&A: The Convert Count
#1
(Yeah, I know. Religious conversion is actually a pretty minor concern in a polytheistic society; if you believe in many gods (regardless of whether or not you have a favorite), then you're already a worshipper of all those gods, even if you only give God X his due whenever you go out gambling, or go to war, or want to keep bats out of your attic, or whatever. Religious conversion is more of a monotheistic "us versus the ignorant heathens" thing. But I digress.)

So we recently got that little feature which tells how many people you've successfully preached to about your deity of choice. Now, is that count just for bragging rights, or does it actually serve some other purpose (like "free Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds for every 200 converts" or whatnot)?

Thanks in advance. :)

While not yet fully implemented, it is going to become a larger factor in when a temple faction member gets a promotion. A certain number will be required, in addition to (or maybe in place of some) notoriety, to attain the next rank. I have not yet worked out all the details though.

I can only imagine what a conversation trying to convert someone to a goddess of lies and insanity would sound like.... i can only assume it would be something like this..

Oh, cool! I guess Corella will just keep making the rounds, then. Thank you. :)

As for bragging rights, 185 people! Top that, folks! :D

(I've also been forgetting to add your current Tip of the Day to that one topic, too! Let me go take care of that before I forget....)

Huh. How did Shar sneak that post in before mine? You wascally wabbit....

Adventure Time is some pretty trippy stuff, isn't it? :)

I'm not so sure if Leira's a goddess of madness, though. Canonically, her clerics tend to go all loonie if they ever cast a True Seeing spell (which is why Corella tries to keep her True Seeing spells to a bare minimum), but that's just from seeing the horrid reality which Leira's trying to hide from everyone on the planet...something like that.

(And if the Forgotten Realms pantheon doesn't have a God of Madness, well, they very well should. I nominate Sheogorath from the Elder Scrolls series. :D )

I thought Cyric, Moander, Ghaunadaur, and The Great Mother were all gods of madness?

Ohhhh man, thanks for pointing that out. I was getting so frustrated how no matter how high Killian's Pickpocket was he sometimes could just never steal the item he was sent to get.

Eh, close. If we're looking at it in terms of a Madness Domain, try Cyric, Ghaunadaur and Tharizdun. "Tharizwho?" Yeah, I said the same thing.

There's nothing to suggest that the Great Mother is connected to madness in any way; she's just the Goddess of Beholders. But frickin' Cyric...how many Domains does that jackhole need? Binding him to the Supreme Throne was the only thing that 4th Ed got right. Seriously. Dodgy
