I have been playing here a long time now and Ive been wondering... Is there a reason to use the HTF system vs turn it off? I have always left it on but am i gaining anything from doing so? If i turn it off will i loose any advantage at all?

Please explain the pro's / con's of HTF?

When you have it on and you eat and drink, you get back a few hps, depending on which foods you eat. You lose this benifit if you turn it off.

On the flip side, if you leave it on and play late nights (perhaps while drunk...) and nod off, then you are liable to slowly dehydrate until you are dead.

(Yet, I play with it enabled nevertheless... go figure. Haven't died of dehydration in a pub for a while though.)

I play with it on because it feels more realistic and while the few hp gained may not seem like much, they can make the difference in making the DC roll for bandaging.

I have it turned on for Marister my ranger and yes they do aid in healing and bandaging. Though I have rped my characters who have it off eat and drink.

In my opinion, first time players maybe turn it off until they get a feel for this place. :)

I always turn it off with my PCs. I got in the habit of turning it off when there was a bug that would drop the hunger bar and kill my PCs quicker than sh...spit. This was years back but I keep it off now as I'm not in the habit of eating/drinking anymore. I lose the curative benefits of eating but I gain the extra inventory spots.

Another benefit is that if you are bleeding to death, the tick for HTF will heal you and pick you back up.

Are you sure it wasn't just a good constitution roll that picked you back up? Just curious here as I didn't think the "tick" of the HTF counter is supposed to heal you.

Yes... actually the 'tick' of the htf does heal you... by an amount equal to your cn adjustment I think.

And yes, if it ticks while you're bleeding, it will get you back up. It's obviously not the only thing that will trigger recovery, but it definitely CAN... if you're timing is good.

Pretty sure it was. It's happened many times and I recall getting a small heal every tiem the combat log shows me how HTF'ed the PC is.
