Summoning Themes

I have a suggestion that has been bugging me ^^

The default NwN summons make sense for a character that has a nature theme but for other concepts doesn't make much sense.

I have read that clerics of deities like Auril and Umberlee get custom elemental summons that is really nice.

Do you think it would be a good idea to further implement custom themes for summons?

Greater Focus in Necromancy could give you undead summons. My greatest grievance is the fact i will have to summon badgers until i can make a decent undead as it stands :p

Alignment based perhaps?

In the server i used to play in the old days there was a custom summoning theme. You used an item as a focus and you got summons depending on that item so if you used a beetle belly you could summon beetles, a dragon wing wyrmlings etc.

So what do you think?

I've also been on servers that allowed the use of a dialog to trigger a choice of what the preferred summons would be for each level of summoning spell... so that one could specify rats for summoning I, mephits for summoning II, ooze for summoning III, etc. (examples, I can't remember much in the way of specifics, except that carnivorous apes were always an amusing summoning choice...).

Assuming a list of options is devised, it would allow for the use of a dialog (like !list languages) to then trigger an interface to simply substitute choices for any caster for any of the summoning spells (character local variable I presume? Similar to the !recall function a cleric can use to set the target for a word of recall, but specific to a different spell.).

Likewise, a greater selection for familiars and animal companions was enabled on whichever server it was... (wizards with rats, rangers with displacer beasts...).

Of course, there's a bit of work to be done with the selection of a list for each level of summons (presumably of beasts already defined)... and the work of the substitution scripting - but it would allow a much greater sense of rp satisfaction as the cleric member of the Jubilex Temple summons slimes and oozes and jellies, rather than badgers and wolves.

(Medium term enhancement request?)

It would be nice. I also played where one could choose an elemental based on what you were facing. At the moment it is random like the summons for those who have faction cloaks. It would be nice if you could choose as well.

Even if this can not be implemented, So much has been done already on the general improvement of creature skins.
