Your Choice for Design Focus?
#1
Of the two following wide-ranging options, which one would you like to see the design focus on next?

New Areas - This includes adding new Thay towns, cities, and points of interest to overland travel (1). These new ‘general’ areas would include new places to adventure in with the occasional new monsters, unique treasure, and new quest givers. In addition, this would mean more merchants, factions, and unique NPCs

New Features - This includes development of options such as further faction development (2), enhancements to player housing (3), common Thayan subraces (4), new types of quests, and some other new items on the ‘wish list’

(1) The first round of the cities/points of interest that would be developed are those on the southern half of the Plateau of Thay - Eltabbar, Amruthar, Tyraturos, Pyarados, the Ruins of Kepetur, etc
(2) This would give the ability for PCs to own estates, become Tharchions, Zulkirs, or the leader of their faction. It could also include the addition of new unique factions such as the Monks of the Long Death and Gladiators
(3) This would provide the ability to purchase guards and other NPCs, new furniture items, persistently lay traps in a house, provide new house/manor/tower floor plans, etc
(4) Currently identified as Gnolls, Goblins, Orcs, Tieflings, (maybe) Drow, and (maybe) the ability to become a Lich

There are of course, potentially many other areas of design focus beyond these two options. However of these two, I would just like to find out on which one you all would rather see more emphasis placed. Regardless of which comes out with the most votes, it does not mean that the other area will be ignored by any means! Both options will still receive development time, regardless of which one is selected as a priority over the other.

I vote features, specifically subraces. Would love to play a full orc or tiefling.

I'm torn on this one,.. i want both equally well..

I would like new areas to go and to explore,.. also mayb e high level areas that the higher level PCs can go, so a low level PC doesn't wander into the sewers and get murdered by a Goblin Elite Berzerker Lord of Blades (or whatever).

however, i like Features,.. the features we have and the ones i know about to come will make this great server better, and possibly keep some of the new people we have been attracting recently,..

however yet again, with a larger member base we will need more areas too..

I voted for features, but i would have voted for both if given the option.

but since neither will be neglected then Features is my choice,.. that way i have more time to work on my "special project" (top secret areas). which i have been neglecting because Adrian is so much fun to play...

I too am torn, but I suppose features would a good choice.
It seems to have more to it than the areas. I'm content with what we have for areas right now, mostly because I am low level right now. =P

don't know if it's possible as well too, but maybe some more "fluff" areas? not really much around at all as it is, just thought it would be nice to have some places to rp around at, without bloodthirsty uber monsters waiting to eat you alive when you go outside the city and rather rp...

I voted features, mostly because I am rather content with the number of areas already. Of course, it would always be nice to see more, but personally I would like to focus on enriching player oppurtunities within what we already have rather than spread out the world even more.

Kinda like "quality before quantity" you could say!

I noticed if you examine the map of Thay item, it gives you alot of distances to and from alot of places, most of which sound like town names, yet I've never heard of anyone planning a special trip anywhere but Nethjet, Murbant or Thassalen, with the occasional Keep Of Sorrows trip thrown in just to do a quest.

Not to ruin the illusion, but the placeholders for all those other areas technically exist on the overland map which has already been setup, however those areas references on the map item have not been created and cannot be accessed because PCs can't get up onto the Plateau of Thay. Designing those areas would be the focus of the 'New Areas' option above.

Veit travels out to those places a lot, for cheaper IDs or some merchants buying for a higher price. He sometimes heads to the Sea Caves in Murbant to do some spelunking.
