I really like how the Enchantment Forges on this server work! But one thing I've run into is the limited number of modifications that they can add to items, as well as a potential problem which can come from that.
The forges can add no more than three spells or enchantments (or fewer, in the case of whips or other items which already come with their own modifications). And for an item which already has three enchantments, the only way to improve on one of those modifications is to completely remove another one (or two--or even all three--if multiple modifications happen to be the same kind).
Tristella encountered this while trying to improve on her Iron Maiden armor (a customized suit of Full Plate +2 which she found with her party in the Nethwatch Keep dungeon during a Treasure of Thay event). She then used an Enchantment Forge to add two Skill Bonuses (Intimidate and Taunt, namely). But later, Trist had saved up enough money and gained enough Notoriety that I decided it was time to improve the Armor Class bonus to +3. And then I discovered two problems:
• The Forge wouldn't allow me to improve the Armor Class bonus without first removing one of the three enchantments.
• The Forge lumps all enchantments of a certain type together, apparently. So it wouldn't let me remove either the Intimidate bonus or the Taunt bonus; I had to remove both before I could improve the Armor Class bonus. So I can imagine if I tried upgrading an enchantment on Tristella's Girdle of the Tormentor (which has three different Skill Bonus enchantments).
In the end, I decided to remove both Skill Bonuses, leave the AC bonus where it was and add a Damage Reduction bonus instead. I had been wanting to do that anyway.
But in the event that a player does have a three-enchantment item and wishes to improve on one of those enchantments, would it be possible to give the Enhancement Forges the option to do that without requiring the removal of one (or more) of the other enchantments?
