Regarding The Vengeful PCs
#1
Due to IC events from the Deserved Damnation campaign, PCs who die and return from the Fugue will be undead creatures based on their predominant class and overall level. This change is *primarily* meant to be cosmetic. So as long as their appearance changes - please do not report any bugs on them!

These PCs should get Undead Properties applied to them on login. Things like Turn Undead *should* affect them, bandages *shouldn’t* work on them, healing spells and potions *should* harm them, negative energy spells (like Negative Energy Burst) *should* heal them, and so on.

However, there is a good chance there will be bugs associated with these PCs. Unfortunately, I just didn’t have the time or desire to script an entire undead subrace setup for the short amount of time that is left for this world-ending setting. So please just keep in mind that an undead PC is primarily ‘undead’ for appearance sake as far as game mechanics go. While I have tried to setup a few game mechanics to take into account undead PCs, I’ve likely overlooked or missed some changes to make them 100% undead. So take issues with them in a stride and either overlook them or, if absolutely necessary, reach out to a DM for assistance.

Finally, a few points of consideration for those PCs who do willingly pledge themselves to the Vengeful as either mortals (by going to the tomb in the Bezantur Main Crypt) or returning from the dead as an undead creature:
1. These PCs will not have undead patrolling the streets of towns/cities go hostile to them even if the PC was/id a Red Wizard or Thayan Knight. Nor should the infinite spawning occur if they do kill an undead patrol - but should their masters find out they are attack and killing undead in service to the Vengeful, shit could really hit the fan for them.
2. Those who pledge themselves to the Vengeful will never die. Ever. But if you think that’s a good thing…think carefully. While the promise of immortality may likely provide an irresistible IC temptation for some characters (and maybe irresistible OOC temptation for some players), nothing so powerful comes without a hefty price. Payment will be collected...eventually...
3. All PCs pledged to the Vengeful will have their god switched to Velsharoon. For some PCs this may be a bigger problem than others.
4. Faction status and notoriety is preserved regardless of whether your PC willingly, or unwillingly though death, pledges to the Vengeful. Again, for some PCs this may be a bigger problem than others.
5. Undead PCs will not be considered ‘monsters’ by Thayan commoners. Again, this may not be 100% accurate considering all that is going on, but at some point OOC consideration needs to be given to certain game mechanics to continue allowing PCs and locations to be ‘playable’ - for now. This, however, will likely change after December 15. You have been warned...

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this major change, post here!

An IC post will be placed here sometime in the near future, but I want to explain here OOCly first regarding the next change. With the server reset that will occur in ~18 hours, PCs level 5 and above who have not pledged themselves to the Vengeful will no longer be saved by their mysterious allies. In other words, there will be no free respawns to level 5+ PCs - they are now all under threat of permadeath. So when the respawn button is clicked, level 5+ PCs will die and go to the Fugue. The in-game journal entry will be updated to reflect this change.

However, on the Fugue Plain they may still either wait for allies to raise them, or pledge themselves to the Vengeful and return as an undead creature by saving themselves and return to the land of the 'living'. And mortal PCs may still, at any level, pledge themselves to the Vengeful at Buvaar's tomb at the entrance in the Bezantur City Tombs.

Edit:
As an addendum, undead PCs will now be considered monsters by any commoners outside of the locations of the Vengeful’s area of influence (which is currently Bezantur, Thasselen, and Murbant). That means these commoners will go hostile to them and call for guards/aid. This could make questing...difficult, to say the least. This is intended, and something that simply ‘must be’ to tell the larger story of the Thay world ending.

A new change regarding this due to events last night: Any PC at level 5+ who has not pledged to the Vengeful will have undead patrolling the walls and streets of Bezantur, Thasselen, Murbant, and the Keep of Sorrows go hostile to them. For any who wish to pledge themselves now, they'll need to 'run the gauntlet' of trying to get past the undead infesting Bezantur in order to reach the city tombs and the sarcophagus.
