Scaling Traps

Just a wonder, but are the traps that have 33 DC and do nearly 200 damage meant for level 9 characters? Because seriously, thats abit over the top no? I have been wondering during this time when one of those near 100 dmg traps would get me and now it seems the system decided to do one further and give me 183 fire damage when I failed a reflex against DC 33. Seems its also marked Silus' end of mysterious ally saves :/

Ok, give us some details on where you encountered this trap. Were you in a party? Alone? With familiar/summons?

Okay so Heart of the Isles just before the giants and stairway down to Bunny (on the left as you enter is another door leading across a bridge of lava), I was alone and shifted in Animal Form. No Allies of any kind, PC/NPC and not partied across areas. Just killed some salamanders and was headed out to avoid the fire giants. I walked back through the doorway that leads to the stair room and stepped over the corpse I had looted before going past.
The trap set off and fried me instantly, whats odd is I could swear that trap was not there as I walked over or very close to that point before. It may have been because the traps set funny sometimes but it seemed like it, and a few others, spawned in at some point while I was killing off the last of the salamanders.

When I returned to the area to claim my gear back I tripped another before I made it out I believe, on the area above; when I spawned in though I also noticed the spawns re-appeared when I went and stood by the entrance to the area I died in in the hopes of equipping safetly. Not sure if its relevent but added it anyway, beyond that I dunno what else to say really.
