Important Notice for People with PC Merchants
#1
I see in the last week we’ve had somewhat of an explosion of PC-owned merchants. This couldn’t have come at a more inopportune time, unfortunately.

As part of the ongoing effort to improve the Thay PW, I recently made the tough decision to rewrite the player merchant scripts due to a current problem we have with other players that have long login/character names being unable to use them. Unfortunately a rewrite of the player merchant system is the only way to fix that issue. As a result, this rewrite is going to wipe out existing merchants. So for everyone who has, or knows someone who has, a player merchant, I ask you help spread word of this change to the other players in-game if you see them.

What each merchant owner will want to do is fire your merchant before the upcoming server update on February 8 (this Saturday) to get your merchant license back. Then you can use the license to replace him after I make the official server update announcement - hopefully in the morning CST on February 8. During this time, feel free to have your PC carry more than the recommended 150 items in inventory or place your merchant’s inventory in other persistent storage. But above all, make sure you clean him out *before* February 8 to ensure you get back all the gold and items you have with him!

I understand this sucks, I and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this causes. If you have any questions or concerns, post here or PM me.

Will some NPC merchants reported not working be fixed in this change or will that have to be an individual basis?

Yes, Animayhem.

This post is the final reminder for all players who have player merchants to fire them *before* you head to bed tonight! With the impending server update in less than 24 hours, if you do not fire them you'll lose all gold and everything that has been placed in their inventory. Make sure you fire them now so you get a merchant license which you can use to replace them *after* tomorrow's server update is announced.

Out of respect for the players who have merchants and need to fire them, I ask that others do not poach another person's merchant spot from them unless they haven't replaced their merchant there within a week or so.
