Bing search engine

Does anyone else use it instead of Google, and have the results seemed ridiculous and unrelated to search all week?

1) Not me, because I've used Bing enough times at work to know that it sucks.

2) Yes. You can do a search for Craftsman push-behind lawnmowers, and Bing will pull up a dozen images for things like hand-knit sweaters and musk oxen...on the first page. Seriously, Microsoft, Bing sucks. Stop trying to force it down our throats just because you spent a gigatrillion dollars developing it and you feel like you should get every penny of your investment back. Even Yahoo Search is better than Bing, which is like saying that Paris Hilton has a better chance of beating up Chuck Liddell than you do. Suckage is suckage, you guys aren't Google, stick with trying to build an OS that's actually worth a damn. Thank you.

It was actually pretty fine in the year since I've been using it, but somehow this week it started spitting out things like the wikipedia page for sea lamprey(search for "drow translator"), and a nature.com article on bone marrow transplantations(search for "unrelated search results"), not to mention stock searches no longer show a ticker, and celebrity names no longer have a list of "people also searched for".

Bing and Ask are a bit vague. Google is a bit more streamlined.

I use firefox browser and just type what I am looking for and am good to go.

Sounds like you've got a weird malware of some sort, I just tried the things you mentioned above in Bing and my results are as expected.

That was one of my thoughts, will need to look into it,

Fifty-jazillion users who say that Bing sucks can't be wrong. ;)

Okay, I need to figure out how to pronounce "Feawen Silimaure". For best results, do you think I should consult Bing, Google or Feawen herself? :D

I would like to point out that per Microsoft’s own words Bing is not a “search engine” it’s a “decision engine”. As in, It “decides” what websites you are going to be shown based on things you have looked at in the past and more importantly who paid Microsoft the most to get to the top of their list.

Google and Yahoo are Logic based searches, that’s why no matter what computer you use you get the same list for a specific set of terms (as long as your government isn’t also imposing a censorship but that’s another story altogether). Bing is a “Preference based engine” with a heavy bias toward who Microsoft wants on top. This means it goes over your past preferences and decides what it thinks you probably want to see based on previous websites you have been on. The problem with this is that when you want to actually look for something different it will still be looking based on your past input making finding that new thing far harder.

Never ask the creator how the thing they named is pronounced. They could be wrong.

Insert gif/jif argument here and a brief interlude by Kanye West about why AltaVista was the best search engine. Of all time.
