Server Maintenance
#1
The server running our little PW has apparently been partying a little too hard over the last 5+ years it has been hosting NWN persistent worlds. It is now in need of some minor surgery to replace the heat sink and fan - which currently sounds like a small jet engine and is keeping the neighbors up at night. The police have been called on it on several occasions for violating the noise ordinance.

Therefore, at 10:00 CST tomorrow morning, March 5, I will be taking the server down to replace the heat sink and fan. If all goes well, the server should be back up within a half hour with no threat of going to computer jail...as long as I continue to block it from all the porn sites it likes to visit. ;)

After the surgery is complete I will post again here.

Hahah - that policewoman has indeed been quite vocal about "that damn computer" which played a factor in me finally breaking downing and spening the $20 required for the new parts.

The server maintenance/repair is complete. The blissful sound of a softly rotating fan has returned.

Most importantly though - the server is back up.

Electrical work needs to be done in the location of the server and power will be turned off for a time. Best estimate is that it should be completed within an hour of this post.

Currently working on a NWNX issue, trying to test various settings on the server. I will post again when testing is complete and the server is back up and running again.
